question for postops
Hi Diane,
It is very normal to be scared. Everyone is different. I know people that chose to do that. I, however, never gave it a thought. It is like any other surgery, there are risks to having your tonsils out, but I wouldnt think of writing a letter for that either. My family knew how I felt about them, but the thought never really crossed my mind. You do what you feel in your heart you want and will feel the most comfortable doing. Best of luck on Monday, you will do just wonderful.
Hugs,
Soos
I did not write letters before my surgery. I told my husband how I felt about him; I often do anyway. I made sure I told everyone I loved them over a period of time. I figured if something happened I would be at peace and that others had had their chance to express their feelings for their peace of mind.
Make your peace with God if you believe. That is what counts. Like the previous poster said this surgery is not that dangerous. The pre-op tests screen us well. The doctors are well trained. I wish you well and welcome you to the losers bench. Loris
Diane(((((((((BIG HUG)))))))))
GOOD LUCK on Monday!!! I know you must be so excited!! I, personally, didnt write letters to my family. I didnt want to Jinx myself
I figure my family knows how I feel about them........and I was coming home in 3 days to tell them again anyways. STAY POSITIVE!
Please let us know how you get along!

hi diane:
i'm sorry you're feeling so tentative but totally understand the reason.
i did not write letters to my family, but chose to spend time with those i loved most - knowing i might not make it through surgery made the time with them all the more special.
planning for recovery was very important to me since it meant i was going into surgery with a positive attitude - knowing i had to be ready for the next step after surgery.
i gave up my worries to God. everything, after all, is in His/Her hands and my worries would only do me harm. i put my life in my surgeon's hands and prayed for his skill to be guided from above. i knew that after surgery i would be praying for my healing but the surgery itself - give it to God and know that you have done your best now and will again in recovery.
sending you many healing hugs, diane. and please know that i'll be praying for your successful surgery and recovery. let us know when you're a LOSER. we all look forward to hearing from you.
hugs
dorthe
Thank you all so much. The last time I had surgery was in 2000 and it was on my ankle. I've bought stuff for my recovery. I do believe I've been adequately screened except I never had an ultrasound of my legs for blood clots. I've never had them before and I've done okay with every other surgery I've had. I even had a C-section, but I was never over 400 lbs. At least not that Iknew of.
Diane, I am sending you a very big hug... and whisper in your ear.. I am so proud of you! This is such a brave thing that you are doing to improve your quality of life. Some people are scared, some are excited, however you are... be yourself and know that you are loved and that we are all sending good wishes your way. Now, think of this .. there is a greater chance that you would get in a car accident on the way to the hospital than have a difficult time during your surgery. So drive safely, and don't worry... your in good hands and with all of us standing beside you ... you are in good company too! I pray you will find a peace and joy today, as it is an exciting time in your life!
hugs,
Aunt Pam
