waiting on medicare?

My surgeons nurse called finally. Said we had to wait on medicaid/medicare approval does anyone know how long that takes and are they know to denie or request more information. bye

I have Medicare, and Medicare does not pre approve,,, they pay after the fact, as long as it is medically nessessary. Now you also mentioned medicade, but I have no idea about that sorry ...hope that helps a little Vee

I can't give you totally up to date information ... I qualified for Medicare on January 1, 2005 (after a year of trying for WLS with BCBS), and it seemed things started steamrolling immediately ... saw my BS the first date available (February 9th) and had surgery on March 30th, 2005. I don't have Medicaid so I can't give you any information on that. After being so frustrated so long with BCBS I thought the Medicare process was extremely speedy. Hope this helps, Myra
