I'm sorry if I offend anyone. Normally I would be ok no problem, but having surgery I do worry. I had my period Nov 18, I had surgery Nov 28, and today Dec 6 I'm having a brownish pink discharge. I called the surgeon and they shifted me to the GYN who had already left for the day. Should I be concerned, is this normal. I got on the scale today and I weigh 425. So now that is 30 lbs. Is the weight loss in a morbidly obese woman causing an irregular period. I have no clue and I'm worried. Thank you if you chose to read. Diane

Well I'm not sure but it seems like a lot of women I know have their period shortly after surgery so I wouldn't be to concerned. Your body just went through some major stuff and maybe it is just trying to regulate. I'm sure your gyn will assure you tomorrow but until then I wouldn't worry. I started my period 3 days post-op......... ouch! that really wasn't fun. Kelly

I have heard surgery brings it on.. Also.. fat cells store estrogen and if you're dropping weight so quickly (GOOD FOR YOU BTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!) then perhaps the estrogen levels changing are causing this... Just MHO.... I hope the gyno has good news and it's nothing to be concerned about. Take care!!

Diane, hopefully it is nothing to worry about, as previous post said, surgery often messes with your cycles. I happen to be one of the lucky ones that always ends up getting my period right after surgery....I mean even when I am still in the hospital! I have had surgery for a few other things and every time I end up with it a day or two later. Good luck, I am sure its nothing.

Thank you all for replying. I'm still kind of nervous about it, but not as much as before, it doesn't seem like it is a lot. Hopefully the gyn will have some good news tomorrow. Diane

Diane- I had my surgery on the 29th and low and behold on Friday the 2nd I started again , this time excessively. I do have prior history with this condition, and had an endo ablation in March, well I freaked out when I started all this bleeding and passing clots again so I called the ob/gyn and this is normal for us to have a period. It is due to the stress and major body change. So if you feel like it is a concern contact your ob/gyn. It is really nothing to worry about.
