Pre-OP help please!!
I am so so excited and bit scared as well. My surgery date is set for Dec 28th. Any suggestions as to what all I need for the hospital and few days after surgery. I will be staying away from home. So in a motel for a few days after surgery, since I am traveling out of state for the surgery. I have never been in the hospital.. only for the births of my two children. Anything special I need to take??? I am just so excited I can barely think right now.
I think I posted a question like this too!! But now I'm 20 months post-op, and thinking back....
SLIP ON HOUSESHOES
CHAPSTICK
PILLOWS
A PREPAID PHONE CARD
A ROBE THAT BUTTONS DOWN THE FRONT
A FAN
MAXIPADS OR PANTYLINERS
PHONE LIST (WHO TO CALL)
PICTURES OF LOVED ONES (TO HELP REMIND YOU OF YOUR SUPPORT TEAM, OR MAYBE EVEN ONE OF THE REASONS YOU DID THIS)
EXTRA LARGE COMFY CLOTHES THAT HAVE ELASTIC IN THE WAIST (TO GO HOME IN)
WARM SOCKS
This is all I can think of right now, I'm sure that there are things that I have forgotten, and some things I've listed that you might not need, but I just tried to think of everything that could possibly help...also I didn't wear one home because of where my staples were, but if you choose to wear a bra home, then make sure it is one that is very comfy on sensitive skin, because I wore mine once and it rubbed me wrong and I couldn't wear it again for a week!! Which made my back hurt really bad!!
HOPE THIS HELPS.
AMANDA
I got this list from Susan Maria's book...
Anti-Bacterial wipes for your hands
Baby Wipes for other (parts)
Episiotomy Bottle
Comfy outfit to wear home
Lip Balm-soft & creamt type
Hand Lotion
Favorite Pillow.. (also need this for the ride home)
I hope this helps... MANY profiles of post ops have their list. A lot of people say they over packed and brought things they never even took out of their bag..
Loucinda,
You are going to do just fine - what everyone has told you is correct. Since you are going to be staying a hotel so you don't have to sleep in a chair after you get out of the hospital - I would bring alot of pillows to prop yourself up. This way you can sleep a little more comfortable.
PIllow are your friend after surgery!
Good Luck Girl!!!
