Hi! I saw my nutritionist today and asked her about all the vitamins I will be having to take post op and she suggested alvitum. She said you can only buy it on the internet, and I was wondering if anyone has tried it and how they liked it. Thanks! Karyn

Hi Karyn, How are you??? Did you get your surgery date yet??? I feel like I lost touch with the comings and goings of this group somewhat. I tried to be ready with my vitamins and everything. I just bought those Flintstone type vitamins from Costco. And do you know what?? I just couldn't tolerate the taste of them. The hospital gave me those same "type" vitamins during my 14 day stay. Toward the end...I gotta admitt I was throwing them away...(accidently????) It really is true that your tastes change after surgery....I don't know why that is.....does anybody know??? Anyway, I tried gummy vitamins out of despiration..and I like them....and I never was a "gummy fan" I just bite and chew the heck out of them and pretend that they are jello. Take care..I'd be interested to hear about the Alvitum too.. Take care, Virginia aka Ginger

Thanks Ginger, I have heard that from others as well about not tolerating flinstones. I was also looking into melaleuca products, they absorb better, I dont know about the taste though. Thanks for your thoughts! Karyn

Karyn, Post op I used the Centrum Chewables. I didn't care for the taste on those either, but, they had the right nutrition. After 2 months, my physician then prescribed Foltran (I think it is called, I get the generic and it is called something else). It is a vitamin that is loaded with iron and B-12. It has been great. I still have to take 1000 mg calcium citrate a day (but no longer chewables, yahoo) 400 mg of Vit D. Lori
