Will they postpone my surgery?
I have a fungal infection under my breast. I have been on diflucan fro a week and have been doing as the doctor said. I notice a big difference many skin colored areas, but my skin is still pink, not red. To me it looks like the skin is healing. Anyway I have surgery in 2 days. If it is not 100% better will they cancel my surgery? When I was there for pre-ops all they said was get working on it and the nurse said that they like to have clear skin. I am so worried.
Sorry to hear about your infection hopefully the medicine will get it cleared up quickly for you. I don't know if they will cancel your surgery or not but maybe it wouldn't hurt for you to call them and explain the condition your skin is now in and tell them the differences from the time they saw it and ask if it isn't 100% gone if they will cancel you. I hope this all works out for you and keep us posted. Sorry I'm not of much help but just wanted to put in a suggestion for you.
Take care,
Anita
Erin,
I have chronic skin infections and was on Diflucan daily for a couple of years and it never completely cleared up... gross, I know!!!!
Two things that do work better than anything I have found are Neosporin ointment and baby diaper rash cream (that is basically what we get). Get hopping on it right now... shower like three times a day, towel off and then use your hair dryer to get it totally dry and then put the diaper rash cream on it... repeat about three times a day and it will be much better by your surgery.
I don't think they would postpone your surgery due to this but you want to be as healed up as possible before you go in.
Good luck!!!
Patti
