yet another dumb question from me

I knew this day would come. I've had dreams of eating things I had no business doing. My husband bought a roll of life savers last night and I ate a red one. Well first off I don't suck them to nothing, I chew them and crunch them and I swallowed. I tried to throw it back up, but it didn't work. My stress all day is that somehow not chewing it fully would destroy my pouch. anyone know?

i don't think you have anything to worry about. a life saver would dissolve in your pouch and go away. if a piece of it had blocked your stoma prior to dissolving, you would have noticed! (pain) so i think you are fine! deb -210

Diane, ummm a dumb question.. silly, don't you know that the only dumb question is the one not asked? Sending you a big hug! One red lifesaver... ummm let me think.... well... in my humble and unknowledgable opinion if this was done last night and you were able to type this posting today.. then all is well. I heard that sugar can cause upset tummies in your little bitty tummy pouch, but purhaps you chewed out the sugar??? NOW... about the trying to throw it up.. that was the worst part as far as I am concerned. DO NOT get in the habit of doing that... it is not the answer unless under doctors orders.. and they would give you some medication to do so. If you want the full "Aunt Pam" lecture on this subject... just ask, but I am sure you understand my concern for you in this regard. You need to take good care of yourself and preplan things ok'ed by your doctor for your "sugar" or candy attacks... like sugar-free jello or pudding, a sugar-free suckie candy????? If red lifesavers are your downfall, get some in sugar free... they are really pretty good (i'm diabetic and that is all i am able to eat) and share them with your husband! Your body made it through your red lifesaver scare... I am so glad!!! Hugs, Aunt Pam

Hi Diane, Remember on this board there is no such thing as a dumb question. I agree with Deb Doc. It woudl take alot to destroy your pouch and if you did you would know it right away you would be dangerously sick. But you need to becareful and chew things until they are like a liquid state.
