As you all know, I had my intial consult On December 9, 2005 with my wls Surgeon. At that appointment I weighed 324 pounds. I was wearing a shirt and jeans at the time. I bought a digital scale today because he is wanting me to weigh myself every week and record it in my food journal etc..... I am now at home and only wearing a nightgown... It says I weigh 315.4 pounds.... SERIOUSLY???????????? HOLY CRAP............. IS MY DIET ACTUALLY WORKING? I have been limiting myself to around 800 - 1000 calories a day, and making very wise food choices. I still honestly think I am eating too much..... Here is what I have eaten so far today Breakfast - 1 piece of multigrain dry toast with 1 egg +1 egg white scrambled with 2 tbsp of ketchup Lunch - lean cusine meal 210 calories snack - 10 - 15 rice crackers, 1 slice of multigrain toast with 2 tsp s.f jam 1 cup of broccoli soup (2 potatoes, 4 - 6 cups of broccoli, 2 onions, chicken boullion, 6 - 8 cups of water, pepper, salt, 1/2 cup skim milk powder, pureed together) It is almost 4 pm, have I eaten far too much already today????? Tonight for dinner, I will have a chicken breast that has pure tomatoe sauce and spices with onions and red peppers on it, and a baked potato with chopped tomatoes on top with 2 tbsp of sour cream, and a veggie of some sort..... Prtobably end up haveing more rice crackers tonight for snack.... Please help. is my scale messed up or have seriously been losing weight?????? If it is correct I have lost about 6 pounds in 6 days.... IS THAT POSSIBLE?? Carrie

Carrie I agree with Candy. You are not eating enough calories. I was told we need 1000 calories just to get out of bed. For breakfast you could have 2 toast that is that bread that has 40 calories each. I eat that and 2 reg. eggs scrambled. I also put cheese on the eggs. I also have a banana and that pretty much fills me up. The Lean Cusine is good but maybe you could have a lg. salad with it. I add cut up peppers, cukes etc. with the salad. I use a ff dressing on it. At suppertime I eat some kind of protien and veggies. I also eat another salad. For snacking I have jello with fruit in it, rice cakes, light microwave popcorn. I really limit breads and potatoes. Those are trouble foods for me. Also, for lunch I will have tuna or salmon in those pouches mixed with lt. mayo, pickle relish and onion. I take 10 low fat ritz crackers and dip them in the tuna or salmon. I eat alot of salads and veggies. This has seemed to work for me as I have lost 68 lbs. since May. I use to weigh 469 and now I weigh 401. I had to lose weight before I can have surgery. Hope this helps you. ~Cindy~

Carrie, ofcourse it is possible, but remember, that not all scales weight the same, I used to weight at the doctors then come home and weight on my scales to gauge the difference.... usually not much difference though. Ofcourse now I just get ERRRR at home as I weigh more than my scales allow. I have a thought about your doctor is having you loose before surgery... I think often doctors do this so they can be sure that you are able to stick with the after operation diet.... in that it will be ever so important. I have visited with so many people who have gone for wls several who weight more than you do that did not have to loose or diet before surgery. So with that in mind... do your best, record your foods and calories as the doctor wants.... You will do fine. Not sure about the calories.. but I know for two weeks once I fasted under a doctors care and gained wieght! Keep up the great job! hugs, Aunt Pam

i stayed around 800 calories for the first 4-5 months post op, and i've been successful at losing. it's undoubtedly one of those "everyone's different" situations. best of luck to you! deb -210
