it happened again!
i was just on another board and someone had put their before pics on their profile. she thought they were 'icky' but wanted a before to view for comparison. so i went there to check it out and be able to comment intelligently. SHE WEIGHS 244. arghhh
i'm almost through my 'golden window of opportunity' and i weigh 285 on a good day. i'm very happy with where i'm at, 150 lbs gone thus far, but a post that calls 244 'icky' and 'ewww' just demoralizes me.
was reading redbook at the dr office yesterday. their 'full-figured' model was wearing a size 12.
in what world is a size 12 full figured???
heaven help me, we are truly the last minority it's ok to denigrate.
just venting, peeps. had to let this out
thanks for being here.

Dorthe,
Your window will never really close it just means you have to kick things into 5th gear and the weight will come off. Maybe not fast but it will come off. My mother is 2 years out and a very slow loser she has only lost 150 pounds 120 after surgery. She is down to 207 now but two month ago she was at 227. Never give up she told me she had to start measuring thing again and watch that snack monster.
But all in all I do agree with you size 12 is not a full figured even on a good day.

I agree with you 100%!!!! Just like I never understood the company like Lane Bryant or Romans that specialize in plus size clothing. But do you ever see any plus size models modeling their products?? NO, You see these skinny butt chick that their waist is as big around as my thigh. Give Me A Break. I would like to see what that outfit would loook like on someone my size. And dont even get me started on commericals for diet pills, equipment, ect. They get these overweight men & women and put them in a pair of frumpy looking sweatpants and a shirt 10X too big. Hair never looks like its been combed in months. They look as well put together as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. Then they get these HARD body men and women that (Havent seen an ounce of fat a day in their life) Put them on some machine in either a pair of shorts that leave VERY LITTLE to the imagination or a string bikini. (Because you know studies at the bikini institute have shown that working out while in a string bikini. Burns more calories then any other outfits out there) And we all know that's what we all wear while walking on our treadmeal. It is just insulting that people buy into that type of advertiseing. Show me someone who was a SMO and by surgery and excerise they lost it. Then that is an accomplishment. Not because Oh Betty Bouncealot lost those pesky 2 pounds that was sticking to her. And she just feels so bloatted like I am so fat. Yeeeekkkkkk!! Okay enough said as you can see I have a really sore spot with these people.
Love ya because you know where I am coming from!!!
Melissa
MELISSA I am
"They look as well put together as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest." That is TOOOO FUNNY!! AND it is SOO true!!
I was on the lovely Lane Bryant site just yesterday and do you know they are now carrying size 12!!!??? WTF??? Okay back when I could shop in the store (Hawaii is very lacking for plus size clothing) I thought the popular sizes seemed to be 26/28, which at the time I could wear and now I can't even find a size that fits in me!!! I ordereda few pair of stretch 28's some fit some didn't and the 26/28 blouses FORGET it, not even on my best day!! I'm with you Melissa why do stores Specifically catering to large size women flaunt size 12,14, and 16 models?? I think there was a show about this last year and if I'm not mistaken (and if I am please let me know) they are looking for models NO MORE than 18 and preferably size 12-14...PLEASE SOMEONE fill me in when did 12-14 become PLUS SIZE??? So now I guess I won't be considered a normal weight until I can squeeze into a 5/6??? My neighbor wears a size 2 and she was gracious enough to say "well at Old Navy it's usually a 1" OMG I can't even say the words on here that come to mind or my post will be pulled BUT 1's and 2's is that even a real size??? Is that the ABSOLUTE NO BODY FAT size???!!!
I honestly think some of these people FORGET where they've been and type BEFORE they speak! I would be SOOOOO HAPPY to be 244, Sh** I'd be happy to be 274!!! I think every SINGLE pound is an accomplishment and I think ALL of us should be proud of our losses and try not to forget what life was like BEFORE surgery....
To those that are complaining at 244 or 264 or whatever, don't belittle the weight your at...think about where you came from and others who've lost even more than you have and are very happy and comfortable at your jumping off point!!! WE are a unique group of people and we should be supporting each other not making each other feel less than or take away from someone's else's joy!! Tell those ladies to stop Bit***** and be THANKFUL they were given this tool so that they could ENJOY life!!!!
Wow that post ran away with me...I love you guys and NONE of you should EVER feel that you have achieved VICTORY!! You have sweated, given up foods that were once comfort for you, cried, dealt with: insurance companies, doctors, family members, hell even strangers that want to give their opinions on the surgery, sickness, and a ton of other barriers I'm forgetting and STILL you came out on top you took this tool and ran with it...YOU and YOU alone turned your life around and made it enjoyable and healthy and YOU deserve a HUGE round of applause and SUPPORT and that is exactly what you'll ALWAYS get from me!!
Forgive the spelling and puncuation...had to type in a rush didn't have time to look up words..lol..
LOVE MY SMO FAMILY
Jamie
"I love you guys and NONE of you should EVER feel that you have achieved VICTORY!! "

Sorry for the mixup..
Ok ... *NOW* I'm getting paranoid ... I typed up a great response to this ... and my IE went *boink* and closed on me! First I get a post pulled for venting and now my computer is censoring me!
Well, I'm responding to this, come H*ll or H*gh Water (as my dear Mother says all the time) ...
Dorthe,
Good and well-earned vent! And I think a size 12 is *full-figured* in Munchkin-land, maybe. Geez, I *wish* I could fit into that!! Maybe in dreams, and probably not even in this lifetime!
Thanks for posting this!
