Hi All, I just thought of a gift for my son....One of those medic alert bracelets for Gastric Bypass Surgery. Do any of you know what info to put on those? I remember seeing something about them on the main message board..back when I used to go there. Does anybody out there in SMO-land know of a possible link?....I know it's late to be shopping on-line with Christmas just around the corner. Thanks in advance guys! Hugs Virginia aka Ginger

Hi Ginger, I wear one. I bought mine at a jewlery store. It is engraved with "Bariatric sugery patient NO NG Tube". Hope that helps. Hugs, Soos

Loucinda, No NG tube-no nasogastric tubes..this could cause internal bleeding,if they are not inserted under extreme care by a MD and tested for placement. No NSAIDS- no medications that contain asiprin, as it could also cause internal bleeding and ulcers. My MD office also suggested what they wanted on the bracelet. Hugs, Lori

I'm glad you all posted about the NSAIDS ... I'm getting a different bracelet and I'll have that added. BTW: the phrase on mine presently was given to me by my surgeon's office ... they require all patients to wear medic alert of some kind (bracelet or necklace). Lately I got information from Medic Alert about a USB computer card that fits into a keychain. Medical information is embedded on the card and the medical personnel can plug it into any USB port on a computer and get a read out ... trouble with this is smaller physician's office might not be properly equipped for it ... and the keychain isn't on the body so might be overlooked, especially in some sort of car accident.
