Ok I knew I could come here and get some good ideas. For Christmas we are going to my inlaws and all of the family is gonna be there. They are all aware of my surgery so I've got nothing to hide. My problem is is that they are having a meat and cheese tray for sandwiches, which is fine I can have some of that. But they are also making homemade BBQ which I can't have due to pork making me ill preop I'm not willing to try it just yet. They are also making homemade baked beans with all the sugar, and potatoe salad, plus a pie. So I'm taking some SF fudgie brownies, but I need ideas on a good side that will be great for me and the others may have some as well. I'm at a total loss here so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA Take care, Anita

I don't know if I will be much help but my family loves 3 bean salad and a simple fruit salad. The 3 bean I will be no help with since I don't like it but I am sure it would have good protein. The fruit salad would be great with just lots of diffrent fresh fruit or "splenda" canned fruit tossed with fat free cool whip. Hope you have a great time with your family. . Good luck and Merry Christmas, jennifer

I am not a big fan of potato salad or baked beans. However, I go to quite a few potlucks and here are somethings I have taken in the past that are great for us post-ops and others: 1. deviled eggs - i use lt mayo and mustard, no sweet relish. I get requests for these all the time. most around my friends and family always put sweet relish in their eggs. 2. broccoli with cheese sauce - i use frozen broccoli and for cheese I use velveta. Yes i know its not the best for us but it melts the best and since I can only eat a small portion, it works. 3. cauliflower (as above or use both broccoli and cauliflower) 4. Lentil salad or quinoa salad ( I get these from the deli at Wild Oats - an organic health food store) - great protein and fiber in both of these. Hope this helps. Lise 409/220/180 11/29/04
