3 months out.Ate a bowl of lettuce
Hey everyone.
I am 3 months out and have lost 64lbs.Tonight I ate a South Beach diet entree Pizza that I mostly had the cheese off of.I than had a bowl of lettuce with a few cherry tomatoes.First was the bowl of lettuce too much and second would the lettuce just wilt in my pouch and go straight through? I will admit though that bowl of salad was good lol and I was craving it too!
Thanks
Michelle
Michelle, I am wondering if your bowl of lettuce is causing you tummy cramps???? To crave lettuce.. wow - what a wonderful thought. I am so proud of how well you are doing. I'm sending you a big hug fore sure! I guess your after wls diet is going to be different than the one my doctors thinks for me - but then everyone is different.... I just have not got it all figured out. I can't wait to be able to have a posting like yours! Great going on all that weight loss!!!
Take good care,
Aunt Pam
There is nothing in your pouch to "wilt" the lettuce. (no digestive juices)
It sounds as if you took your time and chewed it well enough since you didn't have any problems. My surgeon doesn't allow that kind of thing until we're about 6-7 months out. But everyone's dr is different. Isn't it great that you craved something HEALTHY???
Michelle,
I'm 7 months out and lettuce remains the one thing I can't digest very well! So, I still really crave salads, but, I've taken to making greek salads, with cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, zucchini, feta cheese and balsalmic vinagrette...no lettuce needed! I have no problems with any of these other vegs as long as I chew. Chewing is the key really for every meal!

I love salads! And have been eating them since about 6 weeks out (with doc's blessing of course). how I ate mine the first oh six + months was to put leaf lettuce, chopped tomatoes (peeled and seeded), diced cukes (peeled and seeded - the seeds are what cause the majority of gas in cukes), shredded cheese, sunflower seeds and either tiny pieces of chicken or steak in a bowl. Then I BATHED that mess in my favorite dressing - full fat because low-fat has more sugar in it. Then I took a sharp knife and fork and chopped that all into an even tinier mess! THEN put it in the fridge and let it all marinate for at least 2 hours. This will look icky and runny lol. Take it out, mix it up and eat. It tastes divine and by marinating it at least two hours it helps break down the fibers in the lettuce and the meat.
