Call me Imelda.....
Well, I have gone through all the collections and shopping, For a while, it was DVDs. Every tuesday, I bought every new release that came out, whether I was interested in it or not. Now I have about 400 DVDs I have not opened. Then it was E-Bay. I bought everything realted to Rick James and George Clinton and everything that reminded me of my childhood (like Garbage Pail Kids) and everything Saiyuki realted (my daughter's favorite anime). Now I have moved on to shoes. I bought myself 6 pairs of sneakers in the last month, a pair of Anne Klein loafers, some Dr Martens and a pair of Dolce & Gabbana Grommet Slides with a 4" heel. Then, this morning, I just ordered a pair of really nice Manolos and a pair of Stuart Weitzman heels. What haven't I bought? Clothes! I started at a 32. A month ago, I tried something on in filene's that was a 22 and it fit with room to spare, so maybe I am a 20 by now, but I am still wearing my old 32s. Crazy. I look like a clown but I am spending hundreds (thousands) of dollars on shoes. I kind of want to wait and buy a boatload of clothes in a month or so. So, I haven't really lost enough weight to buy the clothes I want, but I can definitely buy the shoes. I am waiting for spring, when hopefully I have lost enough weight to buy something really great to wear with my heels. I will be walking around the mall looking like RuPaul.
So why do I do this? I am the same chick who wore the same pair of beat up shell toe adidas every single day for over 2 years. as a single mother, I know it is not practical, but I can't help myself. And no one in my life will be impressed. My friends are more of a hip-hop type crown, and I am sure most of them don't know what Manolos are.
Oh, well, I love my shoes!
A big loser with zero willpower,
Carrie
well carrie - you're certainly not alone. i've winnowed out my purses several times. my shoes collection does not allow me to see the floor in my closet. and my latest collection seems to be 'healthy food'. i buy it whether i need it or not.
i like to think i'm shedding material possessions as i shed weight, but i'm not so sure. as i get rid of stuff, i get more stuff. my house is just a big box to store stuff in (carlin). but i think of myself as a work in progress.
glad you love your shoes. if you figure out how to transfer that love onto yourself, please let me know. i'm still looking for self-esteem but only seeing glimpses every now and then.

You do know your feet will get smaller, too. Don't you? You could possibley loose a shoe size, some of the ladies are having to give there shoes away and buy new in a size smaller, so if your feet have already lost there size, go for it, other wise becareful or you might wind up with a closet of oversized shoes.
Hugs,
Lynda
And you are doing great with the weight loss, keep it up.
