Off topic, but I was wondering....

I was wondering if any of you might have some suggestions for what I can do with my wedding dress? I have decided not to preserve it, but I also don't want to sell it because I know I will not get what it is worth to me. I have noticed a few of you are quite crafty and I was thinking maybe there was some other way I could use the material to make something meaningful to keep instead of preserving the whole dress, or if there is someone out there that does make things out of old wedding dresses. It is only 1 1/2 years old, but I never had it dry cleaned and there are some markings but still ALOT of beautiful beading and material left to be used. I hope you all have some suggestions for me, or at least some idea of where else I might look for some! Thanks! Karyn

My oldest sister made the most beautiful christening gown from her wedding dress, for her first granddaughter, and plans to have every grandchild wear it as a tradition. My sister and her husband had 5 kids together, so they should have many grandchildren in years to come!! The gown was beautiful and I think it was extra special because it came from a gown so special!!! Carol V

Thanks for the great suggestion girls, unfortunately I am not that talented, and we had the baby first so she has already been baptized. It is still a really good idea for future children we hope to have but I would have to have someone else make it for me. I was thinking more along the lines of something we could display in our home, but I dont really know what. Hopefully someone will have other ideas! Hugs, Karyn

How about some beautiful pillows (very easy to sew)... they can be various sizes and thrown on your bed... maybe even one for each parent and parent-in-law ... how about some table runners for those "specail" dinners.... you could make a vest out of some of the beaded work .... you can make a nice sexy bathrobe which do come in very easy patterns. ummm I like that idea! Hey, I filled with idea.. need more? hugs, Aunt Pam

Thanks Pam, all great ideas, and I could probably do alll of them and a blanket with the amount of material in this dress! Thanks everyone for some really great ideas! I will now have something to keep me busy while recovering from surgery. Karyn
