Deb Thanks for the heads up about the new book! I appreciate it! I have read The Stand a few times. Have you ever read Robert McCammon's Swan Song? Its a lot like The Stand. willby

"The Stand" is Stephen King's best book, in my opinion ... and I'm like you, I re-read it every few years. Thanks for the heads-up on the new book. Myra

Read "Roots." It's an excellent book and the story pulls you right in from the beginning. It's based on family accounts of a REAL family history. Don't the ****a Kinte scare you off. It's a book for all nationalities and all backgrounds. I LOVED it. Brandy

I think you should. I'll give it a couple of years and then I want to read it again. I noticed while I was reading it that there were connections being made that I'm certain would be clearer and more meaningful when read the second time around. I mean, come on, its a family history. Family lines can be looked at two ways. From the beginning to the end or from the end to the beginning. You know?

I love to read but my genre is ROMANCE. My favorite author and one of the only ones I will re-read is Nora Roberts. I even like her futuristic series written as JD Robb. I also like Mary Higgins Clark and Agatha Christie if I want to scare myself. I am just not into horror when reading., now movies ... i love stephen king! I also like books by Clancy if I am in the mood to educate myself. He tends to be very long winded at times. Lise

My favorite novel is probably "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving. it's amazing. I'd also highly reccomend the following by Barbara Kingsolver: "The Poisonwood Bible," "The Bean Trees," and "Pigs in Heaven." Jane Smiley has a couple that are favorites of mine: "Horse Heaven" and "Moo." If you like non-fiction, I reccomend "Conduct Unbecoming" by Randy Shilts and "Under the Banner of Heaven" by John Krakauer. My favorite book site is half.com. I can get new hardcovers there (I'm a sucker for mysteries) for under $10 including shipping.
