please help. This is jenifer writing in for Jeremy. We spent 8 hours yesterday in the ER because Jeremy can't stop barffing. It is at the point she is bring up bile and blood. The ER nurses blesse them stuck her with a needle 12 times before they finally got a vein so they could get her IV started. We have tryed everything from warm water and peperment candy to try and setter her tummy but nothing is working. Please if anyone out there has any ideas i am will to try anything. The Doc told us that all the X-Rays looked normal and so did all the lab work and more thay likely it is just the flu but if she doesn't stop barffing i am going to have to run her to a larger hospital 2 hours away.

Jennifer, OhhMyGoodness.. I sure hope Jeremy is feeling better soon. Pretty scarey to be so sick. As far as throwing up blood and bile... Personally- I would take her to a hospital where they actually do WLS so they have someone that can look at her that KNOWS what things should look like. So many doctors dont know, dont understand, and blow things off. But thats just my personal opinion and my personal experience. Please let us know how she is doing!! Amber

Yikes, I'm so sorry. I agree with Amber - Jeremy needs to see people who understand WLS. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care, Mary

Jennifer... Sounds like you might have dehydration or other things going on... is she able to tolerate SIPS of fluid?? if so, lay off all solids for a while and stick to clear liquids... sips only.. just like when she first came home from surgery. No milk, or anything you can't see through.. popsicles are great since they also soothe the throat and help get a fever down if she feels hot. other signs of dehydration.... dark urine....small amounts of urine... elevated temperature... dry skin...pinch a small amount of skin between your fingers... does that feel like it normally does to you?? If she was severly dehydrated, her labs would probably show that. The thing that disturbs me most is the vomiting of blood??? is it bright red or dark brown... how much? etc... sounds like she needs to be evaluated by someone who understands gastric surgery... call her surgeon!!! Good luck... and let us know how it all turns out! B

I agree with all of the posts above. Jenifer, that two hour drive might be worth it if ever (heaven forbid) you might need to do this again. I recall when I was dehydrated and in the hospital ER..... the hydration of the IV really helped... hope this is the case for Jeremy. Hope the peppermint candy was sugar free (smiles). If she can keep it down, have her try sucking on ice chips. Also the onset of this barfing might lend a key ... does she have the flue? a cold? or is it wls related? Get a doctor to help with the symtoms if any of these are the cause so this never happens again. Again I say, Jermey is so fortunate to have you as such a wonderful support! My thoughts are with you guys. Sending hugs, aunt Pam
