2. If you could give a pre-opper a bag of goodies before they have surgery what would it include? Actually, this is something we do in my in-person support group at the hospital I had surgery. When a patient is going to have surgery, we sign up to be an "angel" for the patient. We visit them in the hospital and we take them a care basket. I put crystal lite on-the-go, EAS CarbVantage protein drink, SF hot chocolate, SF hot cider, Pacific organic chicken broth, papaya enzyme pills, SF jello and whatever else I can think of when I'm putting it together!
3. What is the ONE thing that has made you most successful through this WLS journey? Keeping track of what I eat and how much I exercise in fitday.com.
4. What are some of the foods you find that you are no longer able to tolerate? I have trouble digesting lettuce and bread.
5. If you can tell a pre-op patient one word of advise before they have this surgery, what would it be? Please make sure you are ready for this. Educate yourself. Know the risks, know what it is really going to take to make this successful. It is no magic. Grieve for food before the surgery and get it out of your system!

Hi Sipele,
I have probably given you all the information I have in my head. I wish I could share it with everyone, but a few of you have gotten the knowlegde I have learned the hard way, so here it is for those of you new to the boards and dont know me.
1. What is your favorite brand of protein? What is your least favorite brand? Favorite is world wide pure protien RTD. Worst is Isopure. Terrible after taste to me.
2. If you could give a pre-opper a bag of goodies before they have surgery what would it include? SF popsicles, sf pudding, sf jello, protien samples, chap stick, books, articles, journals to write in, broth, soups, sf syrups, sf koolaid and crystal light, decaf tea, diet snapple, egg whites.
3. What is the ONE thing that has made you most successful through this WLS journey? Following the plan the doctors gave me and not touching anything with added sugar and bad carbs like bread, pasta, rice, chips, etc. Also being strict with vits and protien. Also, being an angel has helped me as much as them.
4. What are some of the foods you find that you are no longer able to tolerate? I can tolerate everything I try.
5. If you can tell a pre-op patient one word of advise before they have this surgery, what would it be? Once you get thru the initial healing, it will be the best thing you ever did.
Hope this helps Sipele, but you wont be going thru this alone. I will be there for every step, every question you have, and every step you take.
Love Soos
