I couldnt leave out the pre-ops so here are some questions for you & me too! 1. What stage are you in on your WLS journey? 2. How comfortable are you with your surgeon and hospital? 3. What do you feel will be the hardest part of this WLS process? 4. Did you or do you have to loose weight before you have surgery, if so, how did you do it? 5. This is a tough question, but do you plan on making a living will and other preparations before having the surgery? Thanks for your input and I wish you all the best of luck on your journey! 1. What stage are you in on your WLS journey? ~I am awaiting approval. I completed the 6 month diet at the end of November and the psych eval in early January. The maiin problem is that I am scheduled to move to NC at the end of this month, so I am going to have to wait out the "pre-existing condition" with the new insurance first. 2. How comfortable are you with your surgeon and hospital? ~I am very comfortable with Dr Schirmer at UVA and with the new surgeon I will probably have in NC. Both have been doing these surgeries for a long time. 3. What do you feel will be the hardest part of this WLS process? ~Head hunger. 4. Did you or do you have to loose weight before you have surgery, if so, how did you do it? ~Yes, I had to do a 6 month diet. I did weigh****chers core plan and walk 2-3 miles daily. 5. This is a tough question, but do you plan on making a living will and other preparations before having the surgery? ~I plan on signing a directive and I already have a will. I will probably write letters to my immediate family, but I don't know for sure.

1. What stage are you in on your WLS journey? Had 1st appt. with surgeon, working on losing pre op weight and gaining mobility, starting to get various consults set up 2. How comfortable are you with your surgeon and hospital? very 3. What do you feel will be the hardest part of this WLS process? Scared of pain/complications, worried about how to live without my "drug of choice" (food), can't quite fathom what it would be like to live life as a "normal" size person 4. Did you or do you have to loose weight before you have surgery, if so, how did you do it? Yes, see other post on the subject 5. This is a tough question, but do you plan on making a living will and other preparations before having the surgery? Plan on making out a regular will and having an advanced directive about what I do or don't want done. On the subject funny-years ago my sister and I were discussing the possibility of catatrophic illness and I told her that if it ever came down to it that I wanted a feeding tube, that I believe that feeding does not constitute an heroic measure, she responded with, " Well, I never thought starvation was the way you wanted to go..."

Sorry Sip... I know I am post op now (4 weeks), but it took a year long fight to get there, so I'm answering these too! 1. What stage are you in on your WLS journey? 4 weeks post op 2. How comfortable are you with your surgeon and hospital? Extremely comfy. However, in reference to the hospital stay where I went, all the comments of, "it's just like being at a hotel"... hogwa****hey didn't make you get up every 2 hours at any hotel I ever stayed at! LOL 3. What do you feel will be the hardest part of this WLS process? Pre-op, the pre op diet drama... and the waiting..... and the waiting..... and the waiting.... and the waiting..... oh yeah, and the waiting!!!!!! Post-op, learning to eat much more slowly and small small bites.... but it is all new still.... and giving up my comfort foods. 4. Did you or do you have to loose weight before you have surgery, if so, how did you do it? Sort of... my surgeon requested some weight loss, no specific amount.... 5 pounds would have been okay, but somehow through all the stress, I lost 23!! 5. This is a tough question, but do you plan on making a living will and other preparations before having the surgery? Yes I did. Had one any way, but my hospital required one. Huggs, Ruth
