Back on track
Well Im back on track! I had been slipping with my eating some. Not that I was over doing it with junk, but I was allowing myself to eat too often.. So I started back with fitday.com yesterday..
I was so good about logging every thing I ate for the first couple months but I slipped and never got back into it. Now that Im back to logging all my food I can see where Im lacking and where Im over doing it.. I need to control the carbs!!
Before anyone says anything bad- Its good carbs that Im getting.. Veggies!! Salads are killing me!! I love my salads and tend to eat atleast 1 salad a day.. So for the next week I will limit the amount of salads that I eat to see if that helps any..
Im still having to do protein drinks to get enough protein- but Im also going to try to increase the amount of protein that I eat.
As for foods...
Eggs havent been my friend since surgery but I tried one last night and did fine. So maybe now I can have an egg in the morning instead of the oatmeal so I can cut the carbs and up the protein.
I love my cheese!! I cant stomache the cheese sticks, but I love a slice of swiss or cheddar!! I like cheese for my morning snack- it also helps out when my sugar drops and I start feeling icky!
Cottage cheese used to be one of my favorites, but since surgery it just makes me sick.. Its not the taste that bothers me, its the texture.. The feel of it just makes my stomache turn...
Does anyone have any suggestions for high protein foods that are easy to digest and arent too high in calories?? I need any suggestions that I can get.. My food routine is getting boring and that leads me to temptations!!

Most mornings I either have a EAS protein drink 100 cal, 15 g pro or Powercrunch bar 180 cal, 14 g pro. I find that other great sources of protein for me have been eggbeaters, tuna, chicken, turkey, various fish & shrimp. In my earlier post-op days I would put tuna, chicken or turkey into my mini processor, add a little low-fat mayo, some onion and make more of a pate. Also, I added cheese to my eggbeaters or eggs and scramble them on the soft side.
Hope this helps.

One of my favorite sources of protein is crab legs. I buy the 2lb bags at Sam's for $10-12 and boil them in water with a little butter (Real butter not margerine). If its just me I take out 1-2 leg clumps or if my roommate is eating with me, I cook the whole bag (she eats 1.5 lbs and I eat the other .5).
Crab meat is a great source of low fat protein and I have an easier time of chewing it up than I do shrimp or other fish. Although I do like all kinds of fish and shrimp.
Just a thought. Also I would caution you not to give up the oatmeal if you have major problems with your sugar. Oatmeal is a good deterent for sugar problems, at least that is what my doctor says. I can't stand the stuff personally so I make oatmeal cookies with splenda and wheat or almond flour.

I went last night and got a bag of crab legs.. I havent tried crab in a long time so maybe that will work for me.. Im hoping it will be easy to digest and sit well with me.. Thanks for the input!
I started the oatmeal after sugery.. I hate it! But it worked pretty well. My sugar gets too low which makes me very sick... So I have to eat every couple hours to keep the level up.. I did pretty well with the cottage cheese so Im hoping I can continue it..

Ohh my! I was pretty picky before surgery but since surgery its gotten much worse.. There are so many food that I dont mind the taste of but the feel of them in mouth is just more then I can handle.. Peas have become a big problem for me.. I love the taste but to feel them in my mouth makes me gag... Its horrible.. and my sense of smell is so sensitive now too.. The smell of some things just start the gag reflex now.. I hope that side effect goes away soon!!
Glad to know Im not alone on the texture issues!
