Ive been using Fitday.com to track my food. Its been a great help and I have no problems with my food log part.. Ive got that part down. What Im confused about is the activity part of it. I can log it all in without a problem but Im confused about the box that shows calories burned.. Im sure its common sense but I dont seem to have any right now... What is basal?? lifestyle?? help!!! Im sure Ill feel foolish when I get the answer but Ive been sitting here for 30 minutes beating my head on the desk and cant figure it out!! My head is starting to hurt so Im hoping someone can give me some much needed help!! Amber

Amber, You basal metabolism is what your body uses (calories) to just keep you alive. The lifestyle question is whether you are sedentary, active, very active and so on. I do like fitday.com quite a lot. I love the way it keeps track of my daily exercise, my food log, my diary, my measurements. My complaint is that fitday.com does not calculate calories burned based on your age and weight, it just gives everyone a generic calculation. I also do not think my basal metabolism is as high as fitday.com says it is. It shows I'm using way more calories each day than I eat, like 2200 more. Shouldn't I be losing 4.4 lbs a week? This week I lost nothing, last week 2.5. My point is that this part of fitday.com in its calories needed and calories burned calculation really isn't a one-size-fits-all, so I have to not pay attention to that. I just enjoy looking at the calendar and seeing a red guy running on 6 days a week. Woohoo! That is a heck of a lot more exercise then I've ever done in my life! Lori 384/260.5/168

Thank you so much.. I agree with you about that part of fitday... There is no way I use that many calories just living!! If I burning that many calories then I never would have gotten so big.. But hey- its nice to just see how many calories I take in and about how many I burn off with exercise.. Ill just ignore that part of the program! Amber
