Okay in Dec. I had to go in and take a test consisting of like 460 questions and might I add the most a@@inine questions I've ever been asked, well I have to do it again. Yep, that's right. I got the call this morning. Apparently my test wouldn't print out and so of course I was freaking out. You have to push one for true and two for false (I think that's how it works) and I was thinking I just zoned out and pushed the wrong buttons??!! The lady giving the test claims no that sometimes this happens and the person just has to do it again. I get to spend another fun filled 2 hours answering questions like: Do you think most people lie to get what they want? Do you think children should know about sex? Do you love your father?....I will have to remember some of them and share them with you....crazy questions I tell ya. I had to vent guys... So next week I'll be taking the physch test again and getting my pre-op tests started. My surgeon is going out of town mid Feb-sometime in March so I doubt I'll get it all done before his vacation. We'll see. Thanks for letting me rant.. Jamie

{{{{Poor Jamie}}}} I am so glad I have a preexisting relationship with my shrink. (Although I wish I didn't need one...) He has treated my kids for ADHD for many years and has had me on antidepressants for a year or so. If fact I first met him when I struggled with postpartum depression after my son (now 21) was born. I just talked to him and gave him my spiel about why I wanted WLS and he said it sounded like a good plan and that he would write up whatever I needed. No tests or lengthy evaluations or anything. I guess you're paying the price for being mentally healthy.

Jamie, I am sorry that you have to redo the assessment!!!! That isn't fun. In defense of the MMPI-II (the test that you are talking about), it is actually very accurate (to the point of being scarey!!!!!!) I give that test (tho I have people do it with a sheet that they have to fill-in little dots (worse than pushing a 1 or 2). I LOVE the MMPI-II as it is so accurate and can get info from people in two hours that can take months of therapy to get to (if ever!!!!) I know, I am a sick twisted psycho-type that gets into this stuff but I totally understand why many psychologists use the MMPI-II for this purpose and I think when I get the Dr. behind my name and can do the evals for WLS that I will use it too... most people don't have a relationship with a psychologist and come in for an eval... I know when I did mine I could have been BS'ing the shrink as she just did a basic clinical interview and didn't do any formal assessment. Most anyone can say the answers that they think someone wants to hear if they are only there for a one-time eval. I know, I know, you were just venting but like I said, I am a wierd psycho-type and get excited about these things!!!!!! Good luck and just consider it a hoop you have to jump thru twice!!! Patti
