I just don't know

So I got a call last night from my PcP she tells me that since I am in such a hurry here is the name of my cardiologist so that I can have clearance for surgery. I was like ok and what about my referral for WLS she said that sometimes insurance companies won't approve it without the proper clearance. I was like I know thats the truth I have read it so much on the board. Anyway so I was happy last night but in the middle of the night started wondering about the information she gave me so when I got to work I gave my selected surgeon a call. Come to find out all they need is for her to refer me and they will request all of the other docs they need if any. So then I call the cardiologist she referred me to and guess what no referral was there. I am so right now I don't know what to do. I mean it isn't that hard to write a referral and why does it have to be I wouldn't hold people up with there health I would be as proative as possible. I call my medical group and they were like I don't know whats going on. Well come to find out the girl that use to do referrals no longer works there so the doctor is doing them herself. So guess what SHE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE !@$@! SHE IS DOING!!!!!!! . Don't worry I will keep my cool and soon be on the other side . Please keep me in prayer. Lorraine

Dear Lorraine (I just LOVE your name!) We all seem to have run across some incompitent medical and clerical people in the medical and insurance world. It's almost as if "they" just are out to get you...they want you to get sooo discouraged that you will turn around and walk away..forget about the life-saving surgery that is available to you. I had a year of "road-blocks"..but many more here on the board have been through much, much more than I on this approval stage. My PCP's nurse told me to write my own letter of approval and they would rewrite it on their letterhead and sign it. I was my PCP's first wls referral paitent. This just made it so much easier for everyone. I don't know if you could do that too? Maybe, treat the doc like you know how busy they are, and you just wanta help them out..etc..etc..you know how to sweeten things up right? I believe I got some great referral letter ideas from this website...there was another one too..I'll look for the website again. Take care Lorraine, and please know that we are all pulling for you!
