I havent had WLS yet . Im looking for a new PCP, My family practice Dr. is anti wls. I have been reading this message board and some profiles for afew days now . I think you all are a wonderful bunch of people. You have lifted my sprits and given me hope. I have`nt had much hope lately. THANK YOU!!!

Ask your family DR. about Lap-Band instead of wls surgery he might be more into that because most Insurenece wants a OKAY from you Family Dr.

I called my FP Dr. he has changed the way he feels about WLS!!! I have an appt. next friday . Im on my way!!!

Cathy, I just read your profile. I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. This is a difficult time for you. If it is awhile before you actually get WLS, it will probably be for the best as it is another difficult emotional thing. Taking it one at a time, may be best. Good luck! Lori 384/255/168

Thank you ! Every time the phone rings my heart drops to my stomach. At least going through the process of getting wls will keep me busy and my fp dr. will help me get my feelings back on track, he is very good at makeing me confront things.

Cathy, I noticed in your profile you have a PPO. You don't need a referral from your PCP. You can just choose the surgeon you want and call them directly. Good luck! Carrie

I thought it would be better to begin with my dr. first. If I have trouble with my insurance co. I know they will fight tooth and nail for me .

Mine was not against it but wanted me to jump through a million hoops before he would write the letter. That included probable surgery for my sleep apnea before I had wls. I talked to the surgeon who told me that it was nuts to have a surgery for something the wls woudl likely fix. I just asked him for a new pcp referral and off I went. The new doctor is a doll. I love him which is mroe then I can say about any other pcp I ever had. I had to do things insurance requires and he will do an ekg, physical, and blood work but he wrote the letter after my first visit. If he is against it and you know it is for you find a doctor that will work with you. ask the surgeon. It was sooo easy for me. My surgery is now scheduled for 2/28, insurance aproved me with in hours of submitting, and I am working on all my pre-op stuff including dropping some weight to make surgery easier. I started this entire process by attending a seminar given by my surgeon on 1/2 so it really has been fast. It feels like this month is taking forever to pass but thats just in my head : P Kathy
