Update
Okay, here's the update.
The test yesterday went well. I've gotten the all clear to have the right kidney removed and the surgery is scheduled for 1:30 next Wednesday the 15th. The surgery should be relatively quick, and will be done in a modified laproscopic manner that should make recovery pretty quick. The doctor thinks I'll be in the hospital 3 days or so. Maybe 2, more likely 4.
After surgery, they will test the tumor. Depending on a number of things the decision will be made about follow ups such as chemo and radiation, although the doctor right now doesn't believe that will be required.
The test on the function of my left kidney turned out to be really strong, and there is no doubt in the surgeon's mind that my left kidney is more than up to the task of doing double duty for the next 50+ years.
I'll be checking into Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville at 11:30 on the 15th. The number there is 256-882-3100.
Thanks again for all the wonderful emails, notes, replies and well wishes. I can't tell you how much it has meant to me.
It sounds like this is going to be over very quickly... which is good news for your nerves!!
The lap thing sounds excellent.. It's a good thing you're post op and this will be so much easier than if you were still so large.
I guess this is why people say everything happens for a reason and in it's own time.
Hang in there buddy...
