3rd Endo results

Hi ... home from all the poking, prodding and scanning and this week's endo results showed my ulcer is almost completely healed. Yay!! Strange thing is it also showed that my stoma has 'dilated' somewhat from the size it was in December, and there doesn't seem to be an explanation for why. Nothing in my diet has been changed (in fact I've been eating softer, blander foods in the last few weeks), the amount I eat is the same, I still watch my portions, etc. It's left me wondering if, as the inflammation of the ulcer (which is on the stoma suture line) has subsided, there's just been a relaxing of the opening. I'll know more about this next week when I see the BS follow-up. Also found out I have gallstones, but wasn't too surprised at that, considering how I've been feeling lately after eating. Will have gallbladder removed 3-22-06, and hopefully the GERD-like symptoms will resolve. Myra

Makes since to me if the, and I dont understand why this surgeons are not taken the gallbladder out when doing the first surgeries, seems as if a lot of people have to go back and have them removed. Good luck, love marie

I've wondered the same thing Marie ... seems gallbladders become real culprits for alot of post-ops, and they could be removed when the RnY is done. Another thing that's bothering me is I hate being put under anesthesia so much. This upcoming surgery will make the 5th time in less than a year. But, I'm ready to get it over with so I'm glad it's soon. thanks and (hugs) Myra

Myra, You are probably right about the dilation of the stoma. The ulceration probably caused swelling. I'm sorry you have to have more surgery, but, hopefully it will make you feel a lot better! Lori

Aw Ginger, thanks! Other than the first 2 months after surgery, I've felt pretty good for most of the year, so I can't really complain ... the ulcer hasn't been bothering me for the most part. I realize now that most of the difficulty with uncomfortableness after eating during the last few months has been because of my gallbladder. It just seems for every test they want to do now days, they want to put you to sleep and I hate that. LOL I'm getting to be an old pro at endoscopies though ... Hope you're feeling better ... I'd say you've been through more of a wringer than me any day!!! ((hugs)) Myra

Myra, Glad to hear they will finally have you feeling better. I am lucky I already had my gall bladder taken out years ago. Good Luck Priscilla
