Gym is Open (Monday)
I hope you all had a good weekend. I did. Didn't really do anything fun, but, got some stuff done that has been nagging me.
I was at the gym at 5 am this morning and was actually able to get in 20 minutes on the eliptical. I've really struggled with that. But, today, I did it! I think I get the best workout on the eliptical, but, it is hard on my body. I will be trading off with the treadmill.
Then I did weight training (upper body).
SB Reverse Crunch 3 x 15
Stability Ball Weighted Oblique Crunch 3 x 10 each
Stability Ball DB Chest Press 3 x 8
Stability Ball DB Pull Over 3 x 8
SB DB Fly 2 x 10
Lat Pull Down Wide Grip 2 x 10
Cable Biceps Curls 2 x 10
V Grip Cable Triceps Extension 2 x 10
I know I'm not getting much response to these postings, but, I really hope we can encourage each other in this way.
Please post what you have done or plan to do today to get your body moving.
Lori
Hey Lori, my exercize has consisted of chasing a 2 and 3 year old around since 6:00a.m. I suppose you could say I have done some sprints, lots of stetches (stretching my body this way and that so nothing crashes to the floor), Lot's of bending and both of them together weigh close to 70 pounds so there is my weight trainning! And it's not even twelve! Just kidding, I mean, I'm not it is a work out but I could use a little more structure not to mention some time to myself. I have a trainning appointment set for tomorrow at 7:15 a.m. at the YMCA I'm pretty excited hope they can set me up with a basic routine that I can follow daily while I am there. I really have not done much exercizing since surgery 12/08/06 and I want to kick this into gear! Hope all is well with you Keep up the great work! I also wanted to take the time to say that I notice you reply to lots of posts that is so helpful! Hope someday I will be able to spread some knowledge myself. Have a great one Keri
Hi Keri,
Sounds like you are getting a workout with your children. I think it is great you are meeting with a trainer tomorrow. But, I want to caution you to make it very clear to him/her that you just had surgery 8 weeks ago and need to modify your routine for awhile. I'd be afraid of doing much ab work or weight lifting for fear of hernias.
I started with walking for the first 2 months after I was 8 weeks out. It is pretty challenging and should protect you from hernias. Were you given an abdominal binder when you had your surgery? If so, I recommend wearing it when you work out for awhile. It is not comfortable to sweat in, but, it did prevent me from getting a hernia.
Thanks for your nice comments. I see WLS as a tremendous life change for all of us and I know that I need a whole lot of support and enjoy giving it to others as well.
Keep up the good work (but, don't overdo!)

Lori, I'm glad you're doing this posting daily. I'm a nonop, so refusing to exercise is not an option. I don't exercise, I gain. But everyone needs to incorporate regular exercise in her life. It has so many benefits.
OK, I'm off my soapbox. Those endorphins really get me going.
Yesterday, like most of us on the East Coast, I got an hour of strenuous exercise by shoveling snow. In between that and last week's yard work, I'm developing some definition in my arms. Once I get the redundant skin lopped off, I'm going to look positively buff!
Today, at the gym: 40 minutes step aerobics, 15 minutes elliptical.
Best of luck.

Hi Kasey,
Do you have a plan to get plastic surgery on your arms? I know I will probably want it as my arms really have the flap thing going.
Thanks for your support. I am hoping that this posting will help encourage others to exercise. I started out not being able to walk without a cane, now it is unbelievable what I can do!
Keep up the great work!
Lori
