Teresa, Have the told you what the mass is? I know that your list of pre-op requirements looks long and daunting, but, just take it one step at a time. It will be so worth it. Once you've had WLS, it still is a big process and to be successful, I think it will be this way forever... But, again, so worth it! I'm 8.5 months out and wouldn't trade it for anything! Good luck! No unfortunately he did not tell me what it was.He said it is from the weight he said the circulation is very poor down there and that the fluid is not able to drain. He put me on a massive dose of antibiotic because he said I have a terrible infection going on.I told him it was getting very hard for me to work now as Iam having a very hard time walking and he said well you shouldnt be working now you need to stay off of your feet as much as possible. The way that made me feel was just like he handed me a death sentence.Iam so scared that if I stop moving Iam going to die.I explained all of this to him and his exact words were well as you know your weight didnt get tlike this overnight and I dont know what you expect me to do about it.My biggest question is how can he tell what it is if he refuses to do surgery to look and see what it is?. Your weight may not have increased overnight, but saying that to you when you're already upset isn't any help at all. I think the best place to start is to seek a second opinion from a new/nicer doctor. Have you spoken with your family doc? Is he/she more sympathetic? If so, they may be able to steer you to a surgeon with a better bedside manner and a more aggressive approach to treating the mass. If walking or being on your feet is hard, my only suggestion would be to find an indoor pool and spend a few hours a week there. Swim laps, take a low-impac****er exercise class. It will keep you moving and it takes all the stress off your joints. When I started doing water aerobics, I weighed 550 pounds. So I don't recommend this from the skinny woman's experience If you decide to try SSI/Social Security Disability, feel free to e-mail me for advice there. I received SSI, which made me eligible for Medicaid. Medicaid paid for my WLS. Good luck. You'll be in my thoughts.
