greetings! i'm with you all the way on the valentine's day thing. and it's such a major event here where i work... they set up additional tables in the lobbies of our buildings to hold all the flowers that are delivered all day long to women who are loved by someone. it's SO depressing. but for me, valentine's day isn't nearly as bad as new year's eve. that one is the absolute WORST holiday to be a single person. i never leave my house on new year's eve. the other holiday's aren't a problem for me. thanksgiving, xmas, etc...they're more about family than about being a "couple". happy day after valentine's day to all! deb -230

Hi Deb, I'm all with you on that one. I have been married for 25 years now (happily..I'd better add) but good grief!! Just because a guy sends a gal candy and flowers...does that equal happiness??? Or does he take her home and verbally abuse her??? I've known so many people who make a "big show" of love for other people to outwardly see..but behind closed doors..well, it's a different matter. This is my sister's first Valentine's Day since her husband died..they never made a big deal of it either..but I know that yesterday was hard on her. How can a person run away from the media and card companies that remind a person that they don't quite measure up to what society says they should be. Just my opinnon afterall...I sound like a little rebel. I'll go hide now:hide: hugsGinger

I knew it! Ginger, the closet rebel! You go girl! I think all holidays are overly commercialized these days aren't they?! Bummer! Huggs, Ruth
