Had a little scare at the docs
I had to go in for my EKG today and it came back abnormal. He said it worried him and he also said it looks like I may have had a heart attack. He said not to worry and he really doesn't think that's the case but still I broke down on my drive home.
I kept thinking I'm 29 years old, how could I have had a heart attack. I've been told after calling my sister and my mother that sometimes these tests pick up things that look like heart attacks but are not.
I'm a nervous wreck. The doc is going to consult a cardiologist and get back to me. Has anyone had a similar experience??
Needless to say telling me not to worry was pointless because that's all I've been doing..well that and hearing we told you not to let things get to you and you need to calm down and not stress out over every little thing. I have three children, a house, a husband..so telling me not to stress is pointless also.
Thanks for letting me vent,
Jamie

{{{THANK YOU}}} I really appreciate all of your prayers and well wishes. I got a little bit of good news today. The doc called this afternoon and said the cardiologist doesn't think it was a heart attack but they want to do another EKG and then if it shows up again they want to do an ecocaridogram (I probably spelled that wrong) I think it's an ultrasound of the heart. I'm more positive than I was this morning though. I completely went to pieces on the phone with my family.
I'll let you know how the Upper GI goes tomorrow and I go in again on the 8th to see my PCP and they will rerun the EKG then.
Again THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for being here for me!! I love you guys..
Jamie
Hey Jamie
DONT STRESS
!!!!! (sorry......I had to do that)
My friend had the same exact thing happen to her. She is 43. And it was a false/positive. Whatever that is. She worried so much but in the end it was ok. On the other hand........my own EKG was normal, but when I had the echo it showed I have a mitral valve leak.
Go figure!!
Glad to hear youre feeling better about this. You know how things go...........just when you think you have all the answers..........they change the questions!
take care girl!

Jamie,
Have faith, girl ... and try not to worry and (the S word). And don't start "listening" to your heart now, cause that will drive you crazy ... been there, done that, made things scarier than they needed to be. So many things can cause false responses so just assume all is well until you have real proof something isn't. I know, easier said than done, but try ok?

Hi Lori,
Had a really rough day yesterday, with a better day today. Still not completely up to punk but am hoping tomorrow's the day that I might feel "normal" again. Have 4 little incisions, one in navel, one below my breast bone and two down at my waist. Heck I'll just add those scars to my collection later. LOL
Thanks for asking though and (((hugs)))
Myra
Jaime,
Some doctors are just idiots. I record EKGs and edit them after the cardiologists read them. Computerized EKG machines MISread EKGs abnormal all the time. Your mom & sister were right about that. Non-cardiologist MDs ability 'reading' EKGs vary greatly. What they should all know, though, is how NOT TO PANIC their patient. Your MD should have done a better job reassuring you before you walked out of that office. It just kills me when I hear doctors say something like that so casually. They often loose their perspective and focus with the individual standing right in front of them!
Best of luck, and be assured that he couldn't let a 29 year old walk out of his office if there was any acute cardiac process going on!
