How many of us are pre-op?? Where are we in our journeys?? How many are post op?? Where are you in your journey?? For Post Ops... IS there anything you wish you had been better informed on or warned about as a pre-op??

I'm pre-op here. I'm at the point where I am just waiting for my medical group's "gatekeeper" to refer me to the surgeon. We're just waiting for a cardiologist to read my EKG results. Apparently I have an early heartbeat, which my PCP thinks won't affect things, but they want to make sure.

I am a pre-op I am basically only lacking an upper gi-series to be totally pre-op.. I have even had the pre admission blood tests. My surgeon kept changing his mind and telling me to lose more weight. I dropped 50lbs in less than 3 months and he said "good now drop 50 more" and I kept on trying.. However.. for the past few months I have stayed in the same 3lb range. Each time I'd approach him about the surgery he'd tell me to lose more weight and let him know how I was doing.. (kind of putting the blame and responsibility on me) To make a long story short... I finally "dropped" him and I see a new surgeon on March 9th and should get my date within 2 weeks of that appointment. This new (new to me) surgeon does everyone LAP and has even done patients at 800+lbs. I am hoping this is the answer I've been looking for!!

Post op ... will be one year on March 30th. I would have rather been better informed on nutrition. My original surgical program didn't do a lot of education and they certainly didn't followup. The program I'm in now is very education forward and followup is a guarantee. The difference in daylight and dark. M

Pre-op here too. I have 4 weeks of classes I have to take (starting this Thursday...and then the following 3 Thursdays). I have my pre-op consult scheduled for March 28th and tentatively my surgery should be the week of April 17th. Seems so far away but it's only a month and a half! Which means I only have a month or so left of eating as I please because I'll have to do liquids for 2 weeks before teh surgery. EEEK! So many places I need to go one last time.

I am post-op. I had my surgery on Nov 29 2004. I am right at 15 months post op. I am still losing inches but very little weight. I have lost 195lbs so far and would like to lose another 40lbs. The only thing I would change if I could go back is to start exercising more regularly earlier in the honeymoon period. Lise
