Hi, Lori. I'm back online after taking a week's vacation from work and home computing. Gotta give my repetitively injured (and surgically repaired) wrists a rest sometimes. I didn't go anywhere special on my week off, just to the gym, shopping for shoes and plants, and worked in my yard. Today's workout: 40 minutes step and abs; 20 minutes each elliptical, stationary bike, arm pedaler. Best of luck. Kasey 365/210 (nonop)

Sounds great Kasey! I sure know what you mean about giving yourself a rest from the computer some times! Keep up the great work! Lori 384/250.5/168

I went to the Y, stretched, swam half a mile, stetched, went to the bookstore, shopped and went home.

Rebecca, Sounds great! Are you finding you can now do more? I don't think I could have done all that before WLS, do you? Good for you! Lori

I've been swimming laps since August (four months before my surgery). It took me a while to build up to half a mile. The last time I swam before surgery, I did 1000 meters (1/2 mile plus five more laps). I've always loved being in the water, and I float like a cork. I'm a little less float-y these days, but I still really enjoy it. I don't swim fast. It takes me 45 minutes to do half a mile (skinny folks can do a mile in 20 minutes), but I work pretty hard and my pulse rate hits the target. When they took my pulse today, my resting rate was 68. That's not bad, considering I still weigh over 400 pounds. I could swim before surgery, but I look forward to adding other activities. I really love hockey (go Wings), and want to learn to skate when I've lost more weight.

Rebecca, I've always been a good swimmer too...cause I float so well. I think your progress is wonderful though! Keep it up! Lori
