Hi Everybody, O.K. O.K. I am officially losing my hair. I am taking the botin pills and I am hoping for the best. My scalp has no bald spots...shall we say, like my hubby??? But.... It just seems so dry and brassy. Do any of you have a hair shampoo and conditioner that you could reccommend to me during this "temporary" hair bad day months to come. Thanks in advance! Hugs and smiles, Ginger

Ginger, No advice really! I just wanted to let you know that I too feel your pain! My hair was so thick and curly before surgery.. Then about 2 months ago it started to get thinner, drier, and looked horrible! I gave up and got my hair cut off SHORT! That seemed to help alot! Now my hair is looking healthier and I have some new growth! And I found out I look adorable with short hair!! Good luck and if you find something that works please pass the info on!! Amber

Hi Amber, I too have thick hair to start with. I have had the same hair style for such a long time. Right now it is getting so long that it flips-up like Mary Richards on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. She was my all-time idol growing up. I mean, even when I curl it under..it flips-up!! I think I'm feeling alittle outdated!!! I'd be soooo afraid to change to a shorty hair-cut... You'll have to post you new shorty hair look soon! Hugs, Ginger

Ginger, Are you taking any Omega 3's, like from Flaxseed Oil or fish oil? It really helps the dryness of your hair. Lori P.S. It will grow back, in time.

Thanks Ginger, I appreciate that. Yes, fish oil tastes like fish oil. I would recommend either flaxseed or fish oil, but, take it in capsule form. Then it has no taste. But, if you can't take big capsules, you can also mix in ground flaxseed into soft foods, like oatmeal (where I like it the most) or cottage cheese or yogurt, gives a mild grainy taste to it, but, it isn't bad. Also, try to eat as much wild salmon as possible. It is also a great source of omega 3s! I'm a nutrition nut. You can find out more by reading "Superfoods RX." I really recommend it for everybody, WLS patient or not! Lori

HI, don't know if this will help you as I am not even sure it is what is helping me but it might. I have been adding ground flaxseed into my yogurt for "fiber" but it seems to have slowed down that "handful of hair in the shower" effect. It is worth giving it a try if you are desperate. Hope you have some relief. Jennifer 357/281/175ish?

U might want to try mayonaise for shine or pure almond oil. They are home remedies but do work for the dryness. hope this helps.

Hi M G, That is a great idea!! I bought some generic mayo about a month ago..and it tasted yucky. I guess I can use that stuff up..If I add a little catsup and pickle relish, I could end up smelling like a Thousand Island salad Thanks for the handy hint...I love home remedy stuff!!! Hugs, Ginger
