Tornado or *something* ...

I know I posted this morning that it was raining and pouring and thunderstorming and warm like tornado weather, but HONESTLY I was just kidding (!) ... but tonight about 6:00p.m. *something*big blew through here and there's damage all over town. We were lucky ... the house didn't get damaged (at least nothing I can see in the dark), but I've got about 40 feet of security fence (see that fence behind me in my picture???) that's literally been snapped off at the ground and laid flat!!! We've been without power since then and it just came back on. I live in an older neighborhood with huge old oaks all over, and I'm hearing that there are major big ones down all around us. We'll be able to see if there's more damage tomorrow in the daylight, but wow(!) whatever it was it was weird and scary... all dark and roaring and swirling foggy stuff ... and LOUD!!! I've got stuff all over my back yard, and I found my wind chimes from the back porch in the front yard ... can you believe that?!? Oh yeah, someone's going to have to rock me to sleep tonight!!! from SE (Stormy) MO Myra

WOW Myra take care of yourself and be safe!! That is pretty scary. I've never seen or heard a tornado but I've heard once you see or hear one you never forget it. {{{{BUG HUGS}}}}}}}] Please keep us updated.. Jamie PS we are quite a bit of rain here in Hawaii...we had flooding and flood warnings for the last few weeks. I waded to the docs office this morning..it was so embarrassing walking down the hall squeaking. My socks and shoes were soaked straight through..

Reminds me of my miniature poodle when he walked through puddles one night after a rain storm. When he got back on the road my DH said his paws where squeaking like wet tennis shoes. Loris

Myra, AHHH!!! Hate to say it but better you then me right now!! I love stormy days but I dont handle extreme weather well.. When I lived in Michigan we had a couple tornados and I didnt handle them well at all.. Now in Florida when we had hurricanes a couple years ago I realized just how much worse weather could be.. I spent weeks on end watching them coming twords us before they actually hit- by the time they got to us I was a total wreck... Hope the damage is limited for you.. Keep us posted... and next time dont mention the "T" word when the weather looks ugly!! Amber

Thanks y'all ... I've been outside this morning and it looks as if some major tree *trimming* took place all over ... there are limbs down everywhere ... we've been pulling smaller ones off the cars and there are some on the roof that I'll have to get removed. No big trees down in the blocks immediately around me that I can see, but the neighbors across from me have a flattened fence too. The street on the fence side is a really wide through-street and it truly looks (by the damage) as if whatever kind of windstorm it was just plowed right down the street ... I guess the path of least resistance. Living in southeast Missouri, there's always the "tornado alley" yearly threats, but I've only actually "seen" one tornado in my life ... moving across a field really far away from me. Our town had a major one hit in 1985 that demolished about 5 neighborhoods, but that was on the other side of town and nothing happened near me. So I've seen the damage, but never experienced the storm itself. I think we came very close to that last night ... if that wasn't a tornado, it was definitely its angry little brother! Really a weird experience! As for hurricanes, OMG, Amber, I can't imagine!!! That would be so much worse because it's such a sustained thing ... days anticipating it and hours and hours while it passes over ... the really intense part of the storm last night was here and gone in maybe a minute or so. It just seemed like the LONGEST minute I've ever experienced!!! They say there's an upside to everything, so I guess the upside of this is it means spring is here or very very near, so YAY!!! Everyone tuck in and have a great weekend ... and if anyone wants to come pick up "sticks" around here, come on down!!! Myra
