How is everyone? TOO LONG!!
Hi everyone~! I hope everyone is OK and meeting all your goals! I have not been here for a while, but I was just reading and it seems like things are good.
I, myself, am so excited about spring and losing weight. So much to do this year. Although I really cannot see any differences, I have lost over 130 pounds, so I know there are some!
Here are the big changes I notice, almost 8 mosths post-op:
1. Strange men talk to me all the time (and, as far as I am concerned, the stranger the better
). Also, they try to impress me with their money, cars, education, and stability now instead of their personality or willingness to date a fat chick (and how fat chicks are better because they are "nicer" - translation "you'll put up with my s*** because you don't have a choice"). Although I can't really complain, because the boyfriends I have had have been the onces I wanted and I have had pretty good luck in the man department even being fat.
2. I am much more vain. I have colored my hair 4 times in the last 2 weeks, finally settling on auburd. I bought a ton of make-up, painted my toe nails, and put on lots of lotion twice a day so my skin is nice and shiny. I bought lots of expensive perfume and soaps.
3. My tiny car is very comfy. No belly rubbing on the steering wheel!
4. When I fold my jeans, I fold them in half once, and then in threes to put them in the drawer. Before, I had to fold them again in half to get them to fit!
5. I love clothes!!! And lots of them! I was putting off buying clothes for so long, size 16 swimming in my 32s, and I finally broke down and said enough is enough. I took my life savings (and part of my dad's lol) and went on a week-long shopping spree. Shoes, clothes, pantyhose, everything. It is so nice to go to Neiman-Marcus and Saks and know that I can buy just about any brand in the store (yes, there are still exceptions, most notably, Antik and 7 for all Mankind jeans). I got some low rise suede jeans, lots of skirts, shoes that are worth more than my car. More money than I have ever in my life spent on clothes. And if they get too big, I am going to hit dad up and do it again. And I even bought like 15 tank tops with beading, patterns, etc. and I plan on wearing some of them WITHOUT a jacket! Brnads I can now wear: JLo, Ecko, Apple Bottoms, Avirex, Polo, Baby Phat, Girbaud (french designers really don't like big people you know, so this is a milestone).
6. My doctor looked and my chart and said, "Carrie, you are 33? Really? You look great. You have absolutely no signs of aging. It looks like you have never even seen the sun. Usually a woman your age, especially after losing so much weight will show some age in her skin and face, and you show none." Wow, that made my day, because I really worried about looking older than my age. And then the visiting nurse gave me a similar compliment about my skin.
Well, the bad news? It seems my open wound is getting close to healing, so I will have to return to work soon. That is definitely going to cut into my shopping. Looks like May 8 I will be back at work
The good news about that? Since I have been out since Jan 31, I have not been able to use any vacation time, and I'll still have 4 weeks so use when I go back.
Well, good luck to everyone, and have a great week! I missed you guys!
Carrie
Good for you Carrie!
I can so relate to the vanity and shopping binges...I love clothes. I'm trying to buy stuff that isn't too expensive...but, it sure is fun, isn't it????
Take your doctor's advice and stay out of the sun. I'm 45 and the majority of people tell me I don't look it. It is all about protecting yourself from the sun!
I'm very happy for you! And for me and for all of us who are doing great!
