Hello everyone, let me introduce myself. My name is Lurnia and I just discovered this message board for people with a high BMI. I'm 42 years old, work full time and go to school part time. My BMI is 6? (I don't remember). I've been hanging around OH for a couple of months (steadily anyway) but just got comfortable posting to the main message board. I love reading what people have to say because it's so encouraging to see everybody rallly around each other. I'm waiting on bcbs to approve me in order to have surgery. I'm looking forward to being onthe losing team!

Hi Lurnia! I am new here too. I have been lurking for about a week and everyone here is very helpful and supportive. My surgery date is April 10th and my BMI is around 59 or 60. I've started a lean protein/veggie menu this week to shrink my liver before surgery and will start clear liquids the week before my surgery. The boards are really helping me get through everything. My friends and colleagues are supportive but haven't been through it like these people have. Good luck and take care. **Denise

Hi Lurnia, Nice to meet you!! My name is Ginger and I live in sunny Arizona. I had open RNY 4 months ago. I had bcbs also. Did you have to do the 6 month diet thing??? I did, boy was that a stressful time for sure!!! Keep after that company. They sometimes make it difficult, but it is possible to win. Welcome to the board..we all share something in common...we all started off the journey with a high BMI...although I must say, many of us are "losing" that status..but stick around for that support!! Hugs, Ginger

How very cool is that???? I do protect my skin. I work at University of Utah Hospital and we treat so much skin cancer, I've learned that nothing ages you more than too much sun! And luckily I've worked here 20 years, so I've been practicing this for a long time! You made me feel great though! Thanks! Lori

Welcome to the best board on the web... I think it's a lot warmer and friendlier here than on the main board... We're one big family although a lot of that family is getting smaller everyday.... I am waiting for my surgery date and my BMI is 78. I have found so much love and support on here. You're gonna love this place!!
