New to group
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to say hello to everyone. My current BMI is 54.1 and I am 5'6" tall.
The great news is that my paperwork was submitted to my insurance company on 5/29/06. My Insurance company normally takes 2 to 3 weeks for approval I am told. Please cross your fingers for me and keep me in your prayers.

Priscilla,
I am so glad that I came to board to check it out! You gave me some hope
and waylaid some of my fears.
I have BCBS as of last month--I just moved from California. I had a different insurance company. When we moved to this state we started with BCBS on Feb 1, 2006. I got a letter from BCBS stating that my diabetes and obesity were pre-existing conditions. The letter also stated that I needed to get proof of insurance. We had to be with our last insurance carrier for at least six months.
Lucky for me we had Kaiser in California--under my husband's job we have had Kaiser for 7 months. Before that we had Kaiser/Cobra from a past job that I had for a year or so. Before that Kaiser again--I think I have been with Kaiser since I was 25 or so from one job or another--I am 44 now.
I was a bit worried but it seems that you went through the same thing but it turned out okay once you were able to show proof of prior insurance. May I ask how long it took BCBS to waive your pre-existing conditions?
I am asking because I just had my surgeon appointment on 3/29/06. I am wondering approx. how long it will take to clear this up? I told my surgeon to hold off on submitting my paperwork for surgery to BCBS until I get this thing cleared up (of course I am stressing).
Mary
