Hello Everyone, Well I have 3 days left I am excited and nervous all @ the same time. However, I have been informed that aftr surgery, I will have a catheter and I've never have one before, so I have one question on that issue. Does it hurt while it's inside, and does it hurt being taken out? Thanks so much in advance to those that take time out to answer my question. *smoochies* ~NEVER SURRENDER ~T~

T, I didnt have any problems with my catheter.. I didnt realize I had one when I first woke up from surgery and when I did realize it, it didnt bother me. It didnt hurt when they took it out either.. The only problem I had was I ended up with an infection.. But I get an infection anytime I have had a catheter... It really isnt a big deal at all.. 3 days left?? WOW, you will be on the losing side quick!! Good luck to you! Amber

Hey T! Im sure they will put the catheter in when you are asleep on the table, so you wont know. It doesnt hurt, unless there is something wrong and not draining properly (kink tube, ect.) it just feels weird...like why am I just peeing in my bed?LOL As for taking it out, the nurse just comes in drains the balloon (painless) that keeps it in your bladder, and it just slides right out! Piece of cake! Just make sure that no one forgets you got it and pull on it!! OUCH! Good luck on your surgery! I wish you all the best! Steph

T, Good luck to you! You won't notice the catheter, you may get a bladder infection later, but, not everyone does. You will be fine! On the losing side before you know it! Lori 384/245/168

Hey T I just had mine done last Friday and the Catheder things scared me too. I didn't even feel it while it was in. It was a relief not to have to get out of my bed and go!! I think I had it in for two days after surgery and when she pulled it out I was tense and nervous and it didn't hurt bad at all. It's no worse than a trip to the GYN office I promise!!! CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery...!!!! Jamie

Hi TT I had 3 surgeries in a 2 week period and had a catheter with all three. The first one, I couldn't even feel it but I did get a bad bladder infection. The second one kinda burned. The third one, I didn't feel a thing and it was great having it since I was cut open the third time. They didn't hurt at all coming out. Good luck to you. You'll do great!!!!!! Sandra A.
