greetings TT i'm just over 14 months out. the only problem i had early on, was with my incision (i had an open rny). 4-5 inches of it pulled open. it took several weeks, but it eventually healed nicely. earlier this week i had my gallbladder removed. but other than that, everything has gone wonderfully for me. i feel great! best of luck to you! deb -247

Hey TT, Its understandable to be getting panicky. But to tell ya the truth, I just had the normal things after surgery. I had nausea for a while but am glad to say it**** the road and am feeling so much better. But that isnt really what I would call a complication. I still ate and got fluids in just felt yukky.... But never once have regretted this WLS.You will do fine. Hugs Marge...

I had a few complications but nothing major. I bled a LOT durring surgery and ended up needing 6 units of blood over the next 3 days. Apparently one of the meds I was taking has asprin dirivitive in it and noone realized it until afterwards. I ended up needing to spend an extra couple of days in the hospital, but I felt fine and wanted to go home. I hope this does not scare you, WLS is the best thing I ever did for myself. I have gone from needing an electric chair to buy groceries to walking a 10k (6.2 miles) Instead of living my life vicariously through TV and books, I actualy LIVE LIFE. I have had no complications. Knock on WOOD!! My friend had her opening in her stomach close up, but that was easy to rectify.

hi tt: a case of nerves is truly normal. i didn't get nerves because i gave it to God. i knew that it was needed if i wanted to live. at all. at least that's what my mindset was at the time. as to your questions about complications - i ended up staying in for four days with a lap rny, but that was more about my comorbidities than the surgery itself. i had a broken foot, i wasn't breathing well, and getting up and moving around wasn't an option. following the surgery, the hardest thing i'm having trouble with is pooping the weight out as fast as i lose it. (down 170 so far). sorry if that's tmi. but constipation is my worst enemy right now. that and the cast i'm wearing, once again, on my right foot. you've prepared, you've researched, you've anticipated, you've talked. if you look at how much you've done to get to this point, it should reassure you. at least it did for me. and you have lots of people praying for you and wishing you well. good luck, girl. this stage of your journey is probably the one over which you have the least control, so just know you've done the best you can and you'll be fine. hugs dorthe
