Liver Question

Can someone please tell me why you have to ingest so much protein pre-op. I think I read somewhere something about the liver. I've been trying to be on top of everything and things in order in anticipation of my pre-opp consult. I won't no surprises and no problems with a surgery date. Any help would be helpful. Lurnia

Hi Lurnia, I'm also pre-op, but if I remember correctly, the seminar I attended the surgeon said that the high protein before surgery shrinks the liver, which aids in making it easier for the surgeon and no knicks in the liver. At least I "think" that is what he said. Hope that helps. Theresa
