Clothes buying bingeing?
Lori,
I can totally relate! I have always wanted to wear Girbaud jeans, but you know how french designers hate fat people, so it was always out of the question; so, imagine my surprise when I tried on a pair of the Aviatrix jeans and they fit! So, of course, I had to buy those in 2 different colors, and 2 other pairs as well. And, I had to get 4 shirts to go with them and a jacket. So, $500 later I was out of the store. I have tried to limit my spending on clothes, hoping that size 18 is not my final stop........but, shoes and bags are another story. I justify my shoe spending saying that good shoes are an "investment," whoch, of course, they are. For 2 years before surgery, I wore the same pair of shell-toe Adidas every single day. Now, since February, I have bought almost 40 pairs of shoes and at least 40 bags. Mind you, I am not buying shoes at Payless. I am buying Stuart Weitzmans, Michael Kors, Carlos Santana, Cole Haan, etc, and I am doing all my shoe shopping at Neiman-Marcus, Nordstroms and Bloomingdales, so you know I am not getting a deal! I have figured it out, and since February, I have spend about 20% of my yearly salary on clothes, shoes and bags.
Funny thing is, I never cared about clothes, no matter what size I was. I liked just plain clothes. Now I like everything, but especially designer stuff I never could've thought about wearing before.
But......small shopping victory I'd like to share.......I went to Sears to get some sheets and was looking at the purses. Sears has pretty cheap purses, most are about $36, but they had a rack of purses that were 85% off, about $4.99 each, so I bought every one they had. 12 in all, for $60. That made me feel like a million bucks!
I, too, am at a stall with my weight loss. Stuff that I bought snug a month ago is still snug.....but, hopefully, this too shall pass.
Keep shopping.....it's better than eating!
Good luck!
Carrie
