Has anybody ever had the surgeon refuse to do the surgery because you didn't lose the weight? The nurse told me when I was there I need to get down to around 375 to have the surgery. I was 421.5 that day, I'm scared that I won't be able to do it. I've been really working hard at it every since I learned I was approved by bcbs. I see the surgeon on 5/18 to do all of the final stuff and get my date. I'm afraid that if I'm not at 375 he won't set a date. I must admit that I use to be bullemic and all of those old tendencies are trying to creep back but it's not happening, I've come to far. If anybody can help me with ideas, words of encouragement or something I would be forever grateful. Lurnia

Laurnia, I too was told to lose weight befor my surgery. At the time of my first encounter with the surgeon I was 410. I was asked to lose 40pds prior to surgery or the surgery wpuld be cancelled it I did not . I was very afraid that I would be turned away. Do not give up. You have already made it this far. An dplease sweeitie do not go on any binges.I know that it seems like alot of weight to lose but, you CAN do it. These are just a few things that help me to reach my goal. I cut out all starches, and almost all sugar, gave up caffine. I ate alot of what I would need to post op. I was doing basically a high protein plan mixed in with alot of water. It was hard especially with the type of work I do(medical office) People love to feed us.lol.... Any way I had to say no to alot of stuff and boy did I want those things.I did end up gaining some weight The week before surgery I did almost a full liquid diet and I lost 8pds that week...... I did not lose the 40 but the surgeon was pleased that I did lose 30 and well...........I am post -op. Good luck to you on your journey. I hope that this may help you out some. Kwheen

Thanks for the info Tiffany. I am really loving my new hair. It is so versitile. Short enough to manage very easily but still long enough to pull back in a headband for the gym. God bless, Jen

5 cigarettes is far better than 6 or 20. Any steps in the right direction, are GOOD! Congratulations! Kathy

Hi Diane, Glad you posted. It helps relieve the pressure sometimes. Maybe today if the PMS is overwhelming shoot for 2-3 max. instead of 0. I wish you a great day and saying a little prayer you will get thru this process of leaving the cigs behind. Sometimes baby steps get us there... when we just can't seem to get in stride with those GIANT steps ;) Mary

I know for a lot of people that I know that quit smoking (at my most, I was smoking 1/2 a pack, maybe a bit more, per day so I never had it terribly and I just quit cold turkey a few years ago) just drop one cig per day for a week at a time. Like today smoke 4 instead of 5. Then next Friday drop down to 3, then the Friday after that drop down to 2, etc. Many of my former-smoking friends quit that way and it was so much easier for them knowing it was a gradual thing rather than an all or nothing thing.
