hemorrhoids

Good Afternoon Everyone, I have a question. I believe that I might have hemorrhoids, but truthfully I am not sure because, I've never had them before. However I have beeen contsipated, and I have tried the milk of magnesia, but it had done nothing, but my anus hurts and feels swollen, and I also feel pressure back there. And since, I have no history with this, I don't know if I should just buy some over the counter medicine, or go ot the doctor...so I need some advice.
