Gym Is Open (Wednesday)
Hi Guys!
I did to a 55 minute walk last night to make up for not getting to the gym in the morning. It was a beautiful walk on a dirt/gravel road along a canal. There were mallard ducks swimming around...but, my white $130 Asics Gel shoes, made for the "large" person are now filthy! Oh well, the price we pay.
Today, I did go to the gym. Here is what I did.
Cardio: Treadmill 35 minutes (5 min @ 3.0 mph 0%, 30 min @ 4.5 mph @ 2.5%)
Weights
SB Table Top 3 x 60 sec
Machine Back Extension 3 x 10
SB Wall Squat 3 x 8
Machine Leg Curls 2 x 10
Machine Leg Extension 2 x 10
Stability Ball Single Leg DB Shoulder Press 2 x 10
Machine Calf Raise 2 x 15
What did you do to move your body today?

It's very cold here today, and will be colder tomorrow. I think a storm is heading our way, and I'm trying not to grouse because we need the rain.
I did a mile on armbike, and I have another session of my pre-surgery class tonight. Week 6, only four more weeks to go -- I wish they would go by quicker! I get weighed at each class and I have been seeing a loss of 3-4 lbs week, so I hope the trend continues tonight.
I'll probably try and do some walking while at class, but with the rain coming, my joints feel kind of stiff today. Oilcan, anyone?

back to PT this morning at 7:00:
7:00 a.m. was at phys therapy to make my workout round:
steps, 3 sets of 15, both legs
arm bike, 10 mins (5 mins forward, 5 mins reverse)
stationary bike, modified to exclude arm involvement, 7 mins
Overhead pull-downs, at 20lbs, 3 reps of 8
Nautilus, pull-back, at 20lbs, 3 reps of 8
Treadmill, 10 mins
Elliptical, 3 mins "walk in the park" speed ... I'm a woos!
Leg press, 20 lbs, 20 each leg
Went with a back hurting, came home with a back hurting ... not supposed to work this way
Keeping fingers crossed it's only from increasing activity in the last 8 days.

442/246/?160-170? (Why are 4 measly lbs so hard to lose???!!???)
HI Kix,
Sorry ... didn't see this one til now ...
My PT has me do 5 minutes "pushing" the armbike forward, then has me stop it and "pull" it back toward me for 5 mins. She says it works both the front and back sides of your upper arms that way, as well as works muscles more symmetrically in your upper back and shoulders. Her phrases are "do 5 mins forward, and 5 mins reverse" ... that's where my reverse armbike came from.
Because of my crappy back and obesity, my upper arms and shoulders had become weak, as had my thighs, lower back muscles and abdomen. The exercises I do are par of a "strength rebuilding" plan my phys therapist has me working on, not to be confused with strength training like muscle builders do. (I wish I was that strong, but I'm not
)
Honestly, the best thing I did for myself, second to this surgery, was to return to physical therapy and find the absolute best therapist in the world. She's helped me so much, and I was afraid to go to a commercial gym for fear that the staff wouldn't be wise enough to keep my back from getting worse.
((hugs))
