Back to basics worked...

After my little gain I called my "nut" and asked about going back to basics for awhile. Liquids, soft foods, and then normal foods... She agreed that it would help me get back on track with my eating but only wanted me to do it for 10 days! She laid out a plan for me.. 2 days of liquids only... 10 days of soft foods... then back to eating normally.. The 2 days of liquids only about killed me.. Cravings were so bad! I wasnt really hungry but my head wanted everything under the sun! Soft foods were heaven after 48hrs of liquids! Cottage cheese never tasted so good!! Once I was on soft foods the cravings subsided. I forgot how hard the soft food stage was after a couple days! Very limited on foods! But its working and working well.. And now Im feeling back in control of my eating.. It was a great feeling to see the weight come off so quickly since the loss has been so slow lately. If only it would continue then Id lose this last 30lbs in no time at all!! Im really hoping to reach goal by my 1 year mark! I really think I can make it too.. Its only 30lbs!! Considering Ive lost 140+lbs already I think its safe to assume Ill reach my goal... Im no longer beating myself up over the gain- I see it as a lesson learned! Now I know that food cant protect me from emotions.. I just have to figure out how to deal with stress when it comes up again! Amber

Hi Amber, When you figure out how to deal with stress, be sure and let us know, ok? I'm so happy you were able to help yourself get back on track. Congratulations ... cause it's an accomplishment and not an easy thing to do. Maybe you ought to just divide the 30 lbs by two and concentrate on 15 lbs right now. Remember, I go by the motto: "divide and conquer!" Wow, you must feel great being only that far away from goal weight. Hope things are going a bit better now for you and your family. (((hugs))) Myra

Amber, The head trip part of all this, is the part none of us can really be prepared for. We have to slog through it. At least, that is what I'm trying to do, during my rough times, which I'm in now. Lori

isn't it great that our tool is there for us when we need to use it? i think that's one of the many, many, many reasons i chose the surgery. we may change, or stray, but when we decide to work at it again, we have a builtin support tool. kudos on your progress, amber. i'm looking for an answer to dealing with stress too. so if you find one... hugs dorthe
