The Surgeon Rollercoaster

Found out yesterday that I may have to switch surgeons and start over! My surgeon had switched hospitals 10 days before my surgery date of 4-17 and he postponed all the surgeries scheduled in April. now it is May and I found out that the new hospital does not accept my insurance and I do not ahve out of network benefits. My surgeon is attempting to get privileges at a few other hospitals, but who knows how long that will take. My insurance states that they may approve an out of network hospital, but since there are so many in network hospitals in the area, I doubt that they will approve using an out of network one. I am now out the $150 charged for a seminar and do not want to have to pay for another seminar with another surgeon (many of the surgeons in this area require you go to their seminars before they will see you - talk about a money maker). I have scheduled an appointment with another surgeon for later this month, and the earliest I can have surgery is the middle of June. I really like my surgeon and do not want to switch, but I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guess what makes me the maddest is that by the time I have surgery, I could have lost 25-50 lbs if I had the surgery when it was originally scheduled! Thanks for letting me vent!

Im am so sorry your going through such a hassle.. I thought my fight for surgery was stressful... Now I see that it was just time consuming but it didnt cost me any actual money!! Hopefully things will go smoothly for you now and you will be able to have your surgery soon. I wish you the best of luck! Amber

I'm being dicked around too but in Canada if I have to to go through the whole application process again which would let me have surgery in the States it could be another 5 mths. or more! I will be devastated if this happens. I'm squeezed between those rocks with you! Jennifer
