Topic: RE: Eyebrow piercing
personally, i have never had my eyebrow pierced, it just wasn't "my thing."
several of my friends have had theirs pierced and the pain seems to run the gamut from a sharp intake of air and a grimace to lip biting and tears. basically, its all dependant on your paint threshold.
also, i have had one friend who's body rejected the piercing and basically, pushed it out (one of the dangers of a basic "skin" piercing).
i would definately advise that if you get it done prior to job hunting, get it well in advanced so that it has enough time to heal. also remember that healing times differ by person. i heal quickly, so when i got my tongue pierced eons ago, it took all of a week and half before it was done healing.
as for noses, those are fun. i had my septum and nostril pierced. in a word i can describe the pain level: OUCH! a tear managed to escape my eye when i got my septum done. my piercer said that it was a tear of joy.
and explain to your son that you are reliving your expressive days, that yours just came a little later than most people.

Topic: Eyebrow piercing
Hi, I am thinking about getting my eyebrow pierced but wanted to know how painful it is and about how much I can expect to pay. I was also thinking about getting a nose piercing but I am not sure. I have wanted my eyebrow pierced for several years but am concerned about spending the money and then having it close up if I have to remove it for job hunting. Currently on permanent disability but loosing weight has significantly decreased my pain so I may go back to school and learn a new skill. I live in a pretty conservative area but want to express myself and quit worrying about what everybody else thinks. This coming from a 40 year old women who likes to experiment with hair color. I have had orange hair, hot pink hair, every shade of red, black, blond. My son thinks I am too old to have anything pierced or show my eccentric side.

Topic: RE: Retainers
Hi Michelle....
I just had my surgery on 12/13. I just got my nips pierced Sept. 1, so I was really nervous. I have a hard time even changing the barbells in them. But, my surgeon let my use the acryllic retainers & I had no probs at all. If he hadn't let me do that they would have definately closed up. Good luck with your surgery!!
Topic: RE: Retainers
i have 9 piercings in my face alone. some are old. i have found that taking them out for a night or two wont hurt any as long as they are more than a year old. they may be a little tight when you put them back in but they wont complety close.
Topic: RE: Retainers
I guess you could say it's a small price to pay but I paid so much for my piercings, my tongue cost me 85euros which is like 90 something american dollars and my nose cost me 45 euros which is 50 something. It is worth it though.
Topic: RE: Piercing "Down There"
This post is really outdated, so this may not be relevant anymore. I know you don't want to go to a shop, but it's really the best place to go. Pulling, twisting and squeezing your jewelry with your fingers can be VERY dangerous.
Shops - if they're health department certified - are sanitary and have the proper tools to handle jewelry. I know it's embarassing, but take a friend with you - maybe they'll hold your hand.

Topic: RE: Retainers
Most doctors will not allow you to wear retainers - especially in your tongue because it could cause a problem with the ventilator that helps you breathe during surgery. Also, because of the electricity that is near and on your body during surgery, no metal can be on your body at all - no earrings, necklaces, etc.
I had my ears, nose, tongue and monroe for YEARS before surgery. I was in the hospital for 4 weeks post surgery (1 week in a coma due to complications) and I only had to re-pierce my tongue and monroe. Even if you have to get them done again, that's a small price to pay.

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, I HAVE THE SAME PEIRCING WITH THE SAME JEWELRY. I NEVER TOLD THE SUGEON I HAD THE JEWELRY IN AND ALL TURNED OUT WELL. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE MY JEWELRY TO A BARBELL BUT CAN NOT TAKE IT OUT MYSELF. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM ASKING THE PERSON WHO PEIRCED ME TO DO IT EITHER. I JUST NEVER WENT BACK TO HAVE IT DONE. BUT I WILL SOON. GOOD
LUCK WITH YOUR SURGERY.. NICOLE
