Hi Everyone! My new friend Stacy steered me to this board. I am 6 weeks post lap band surgery and hope to get clearance from my surgeon to lift weights and resume full exercise this week. I just saw an infomercial for the Katami bar and DVDs and wondered if anyone had any experience with this product. I can be so easily seduced by anything which makes exercise look like a game and had to sit on my hands to keep from phoning in my order! I look forward to gleaning the wealth of knowledge and information on this board. What a valuable resource. Thanks Stacy! Refika

I agree with the others, also (This happened to Kristie) get your Thiamin checked, low levels can cause nerve damage. We are at risk for this now, she had the exact same symtoms, and now takes B-1, and B12 injections.

You want San Diego, yearly average is in the 70's, it is awesome all year, even when it rains.

Actually I am getting in 90 - 100 grms of protein a day already. I'm finding it really easy to do that with protein pudding, shakes, cottage cheese, soups. Although my calories are still hovering around 700 - 800. My RD is very good and was willing to help me compensate for heavier exercise. First RD that asked me what I could leg press! Once I told her I was doing 250 X 15 X 3 the last time I was in the gym and saw some old workout logs she said for me to try to keep it around 100 and we would evaluate again at 3 months. I think it will be more of a challenge once I am further along into the soft foods and regular phase though. Being on liquids makes it easy. They are really big on eating real food instead of doing so many supplements. I'll still be always adding in at least one or two though. Protein pudding has been my saving grace so far. Right now I'm still on full liquids and just starting to test soft foods. This afternoon I'm going to make some mashed sweet potatoes, splenda, cinnamon, a little skim milk, a little margarine, and mix some unflavored protein into it. I'll let ya know how it works out!! Completely fine with losing less!! I much rather have the muscle back then just shrinking flab! Yuck! I've gotten so soft these last few months.

My advice early on is to eat all the protien that you can. It is very temping at your stage to not eat enough. You want to speed up the weight loss. Fight the urge and eat. Since you will be exercising and training, you will need to eat more than other WLS people. Don't try to compare your eating and weight loss with others. Because of training, you will eat more and lose less But the long term results are worth it. All my critics(wife dietician) told me I was eating too much.....and exercising to much. I would love to send them my dietician my current picture.
