Topic: Impaitence....UGH
What do we do with ourselves when we run out of paitence on our progress?
I'm trying very hard to remember that It took time to gain all the weight I have and that it's going to take time to get it all off, but I feel like "I'm so close - but still so far!"
I keep getting reminded that muscle helps to increase metabolism and cardio helps to burn fat.....and I do work on both my cardio strength and my muscle mass....but I'm at a wall that I can't get past! I've finally gotten below the 200lb weight mark - but the "honeymoon" phase of the weight loss is coming to a crawl and my head is still in the "it won't take any time to get the next 5 lbs off" - then it takes 3 weeks!!!
I need to remember to focus on my every day goals and realize that the long term goals will get closer with each passing day....only I'll get impaitent again....
Any thoughts on what you guys to to help keeping you focused to get to the end goal? I don't have any "real" goals of being a "power" lifter....though I'm pretty good at what weights I do lift. The only "weight lifting" or Exercise goals I've had is to become an instructor...and I'm in the process of that with my AFAA test now being behind me. I have two more certificates that I'm wanting to go for and that's becoming certified in Body Combat and Body Pump as an instructor.
I have no paitence......NONE.....I got in the "abundant looks" line twice and skipped right over getting in the paintece line when all of that was being passed out!!!!
I'm rambling......I'll stop now......thoughts and ponderances are welcomed!

Hi Stayce!
Same to you! Your doing GREAT
. Im going today and purchase my gym membership, I may not do anything but use the pool and the treadmill right now but our weather has not cooperated this week, and I haven't been able to even walk. Im getting cabin fever and I have got to get out of this house, and do some kind of exercise before I explode here.
My surgeon isnt going to clear me for anything other than walking, for 6 more weeks. He said it took 12 weeks for the staple lines to heal, and doesnt want me doing anything but walking between now and then. I can not even work outside, which is another passion with gardening.
I feel like I can learn alot here, so it is nice to share with others that are into the same things! I read your profile, and I also have some connective tissue disorder with no diagnosis for the last 2 years, they ruled out lupus and some other conditions. They have not tested me for MS, as of yet. I do have muscle weakness and no upper body strength whatsoever. It is inspiring to see how well your husband is doing and I do feel like strengthing my muscles can also help with my condition too.
Have a great day!

Just wanted to pop in and say welcome to the boards over here Sandy. It looks like the pros already gave you some great advice.
As just over a week post op myself I can relate to that drain after just doing some normal paced walking. I was out for about an hour today walking around a store and as soon as I got home it was nap time!!
Looking forward to see my surgeon on Tuesday next week so he can give me some clearence on my next move. I've been drooling at wanting to get back in the gym but being good about not doing it and letting my body rest.
Enjoy and congrats on all your success at 4 weeks!! Sounds like you are doing fantastic!!

John,
Thankx for the nice welcome. Well, we do have a big staircase at work, that I could work on. I go back Tuesday, so thats an idea I hadn't thought of
So far the diet is under control so I do want to spark my passion for not only getting healthy but toned. Earl is amazing, I do hope I can get THAT toned without plastics. Time will tell, but I am defintely dedicated to giving it a shot. Thankx again!

Val, I agree with you on doing things with our kids. I have one who is running track and one in baseball. I have 7 kids....I have no idea what I am going to do to get them everywhere! LOL My oldest is 13.... If I could give her a licence I would think hard about it!
On another subject, I hurt soooo gooooood! LOL I ache in my shoulders and my legs......I could lay down and take a nap!
Gotta go watch my oldest run her mile and her 800.
Val tell your daughter congrats on the squad! Lotsa work there!
have a good night!

Sandy, Welcome
I was 3 months out before I did any lifting. I had a hernia fixed at the time of WLS. During that first three months, if I wanted more exercise, I did the stairs and the local mall and stadium. They did not seem to bother me too much. I really like Earl's response. He is at next level before the rest of us. I just try to follow his lead. All his post should come with a warning like: (I am a trained professional lifter..... don't try this at home). John bows to Earl

Topic: What Can I Do???
Hello Bodybuilders
,
I am almost 4 weeks post op, and am up to walking 2 miles a day. I feel like I could do alot more, as far as exercise but I will not do anything strenuous, until released by surgeon to do so. At this point, is there anything else I can do besides walking? I would like to add, 2lb weights when I walk, is it too soon for this? What type of exercise where you able to do at 4 weeks post op? Thankx!
Sandy

Hi John! So sorry about the injury. I hope it gets better soon. Maybe the injury and snow is a sign that you should rest before you start your summer running????

Me either...my week has gone straight to the
It has been something every night this week. Tonight I am leaving work to go straight to speak at an info session. That will encompass most of my night. I am going to have to reorganize my whole workout schedule due to my daughters cheerleading practice schedule. YEAH She made the Freshman squad!
Then, I got all parental and volunteered to be the Liaison for the Freshman squad for the Athletic Boosters...we only get one chance to do things with and for our kids right?
So FRIDAY I am going to kick it HARD!!!
Take no prisoners, all out gut busting workout. I have a rally to go to Saturday morning for our school levy, so I will hit it again Saturday afternoon.
Guys, put our schools on your prayer lists, light candles, do chicken bones, tea leaves, rub budha (sp?) or whatever. We need this to pass. If it doesn't there will be no extra curricular activities for our kids. Nada, nothing, zip, zilch.
Ok, nuff of that...off to work...have a good one!
Val
