Had a relaxing weekend and feeling a little better. Had a girls night out with other WLS patients and hosted them at my house for a party. It was fun. Mood is a little better.

Of course and it is a great way to build functional strength!! You can use your body as weight and do so much with very simple equipment as well as none at all. -sit-ups for abdominal muscles -push-ups for the arms, chest, and shoulders (standard, close, and wide grips) -dips for the back of the arms -squats for the muscles in the rear and front of the thighs (standing, one leg, sumo/wide stance styles, hands over head squat, ball squat if you are a beginner) -duck walks (squat down until your at or below parellel and walk as long as you can take it.. ow) -calf raises for the lower portion of the leg. -lunges (careful if you have knee issues - hold on to a chair and do stationary first) When done correctly they work evey single muscle in your leg -step -ups if you have stairs around -uphill sprints (don't want to do this if you can't run a good flat ground sprint already or have any sort of old joint injuries) You should consider investing in a medicine ball and a swiss ball if you can spare a few bucks. Excellent and simple equipment that I can't live without. I also keep a few resistance bands around. Also, don't underevaluate a towel.. lots you can do with them as well. Topic: Ball of messed up hormones!Help
Since I've been back from Chicago this week I've felt awful mood wise. I don't know what is up with me. I'm guessing it is hormonal...maybe the release of hormones from my weight loss or maybe its just really bad PMS. Did you go through anything like this? I just hit my 5 month mark this week. I feel like I'm going through this mini-depression or something. Even over ate today and yesterday and no workouts for the last couple days. I had almost half a bag of tortilla chips through out the 2 days and at least 2 cups of SF ice cream yesterday and today. That was a meal - lime tortilla chips and turkey hill raspberry cheesecake ice cream!! Granted I would have done even worse damage prior to WLS - maybe the whole bag in an hour and a 1/2 gallon of regular ice cream but still!! I need to find better outlets then food. I know this. Where is my head??? I'm also not sleeping and totally stressed. Had a couple nightmares when I did finally fall asleep about my teeth and hair falling out. I've been fighting with my husband left and right all week and we rarely fight. If we do it lasts 1 -2 minutes instead of an entire week. I'm so frustrated and angry with him and for no good reasons really. Everything seems intesified times 10. Even at work I have so little patience with people. It is like I am hypersensitive to everything and crying at the drop of a hat!! UGH! What is going on with me? I just need to hear that I'm not going insane from someone! That this will all be over in another day or so. Kick me in the butt and tell me to snap out of it. Maybe I should box or something tomorrow? I have a heavy bag I can bang up at my house. I'm afraid if I do it at the gym I'll end up in a tantrum on the floor. That and I just need some serious sleep.

lol.. good job getting back on track Funny.. I had a similar experience many years ago in undergrad. We were drinking grape crush shots at a bar called the Boat House in Harvard Square. Next morning I could have sworn it smelled like I was sweating out purple grape crush.. lol

Topic: yellow foamy sweat
Tonight I got back in the gym. During my workout, and I started to sweat and a yellow foamy substance stared coming out of my pours. At first I paniced, then a droplet went in my mouth. It tasted like salty beer I think I will be ok. All kiddin aside, it felt good to get back in the gym and get rid of all those toxins

The best of intensions..... I just got back from trip to Chicago. I packed lots of exercise clothes.....however... The only lifting that I did was 12 oz. curls. I also did a lot of fork raises I will be back in the gym tonight....with a few extra pounds to work off.

Anthony, good to see you in here. Are you callin me a Muslehead? I guess that is better than Hey Fat Ass My advice is do weights first then cardio. Don't just do your cadio in the "fat buning" zone. Make sure you bump it up sometimes. Good luck.

Topic: RE: Abdominals and Shoulders
Chris, This is excellent advice from Mikee and Karen. I agree with them 100%. Now let me add my two cents. First, Dont overwork the abs. Most people overwork the abs witch actually causes them to "bulk up" witch is the opposite of your goal. Abs are all about diet. It take time for the skin to shrink back Secondly, you said you are not satisfied with your results of your shoulder work. How long have you been working the shoulders? It takes months and months to get results. I stated a new shoulder routine in January and am finally seeing results. I am with Mikee, work all three deltoid heads...especially the rear delt. Just hang in there, it takes time. As we get older the results don't come as fast. We just have to work a little harder and be a little smarter. Good Luck.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to hang out! It was a crazy weekend but a fun one! At least we got to chat for a few minutes. Hope you had a safe trip back. Chicago is such a beautiful city. I really enjoyed it. Updated my profile with info on the weekend. I had the best time! The gym I went to was AMAZING!
