Topic: Thursday and this coming weekend
Today: 30 min cardio on the eliptical and left to get to work early Friday: Took tomorrow off so I should be able to get in a much more decent workout as well as get the nails done, pack for my weekend trip. Full Body workout plus cardio. Sat: Flying out to Chicago Sat. AM so not sure if I will get a work out in on Sat. I have my "SIL-to-be" wedding shower and I think we are going to be out on my brothers sailboat the rest of the time. Probably be a SLUG day =) Sunday: Again, no clue what will happen. Really hoping I can get a day pass and find a gym to go to but not sure I am going to have time. Monday - Flying back home in the afternoon so I should be able to get a workout in the am no problem. If I have to run the streets of downtown Chicago I will!! Actually that might be fun.

Topic: RE: Goal Weight For Lifters?
My fellow members stated the facts very well here, do not have much to add but wanted to welcome you and say congrats on your upcoming day. I lost muscle as well, I also did not get my lean body mass measured before surgery, but last time I did I was approx 225 pounds lean body mass at a little over 400 pounds. I am now (After a year of lifting) at 205 pounds lean body mass at 265 pounds. My goal (If I can keep the muscle and even put some more on) is 225, this is a dream goal of 10% body fat. BMI charts are no more than a modern version of the life insurance charts, useless for anyone with any muscle.

Good workout Stayce. One thing that I find weird, is that if I am working out daily I do not get DOMS. If I take two days off in a row, bam, the second day it hits me, but not too bad. I do not lift heavy right now, so that could be a reason. I am waiting to hit goal, then I may go heavy, maybe not, moderate weight mod-high reps are really working well for me, my body is responding very well.

I started with this alone, and used nothing else for months, I still use it to warm up and if I want a quick total body workout. I still think it is an very good piece of equipment.

Ha.. DOMS seems to just be a way of life for me. Unless it lasts more then a day or two I don't usually worry about it too much. Dana tells me with his evil grin to "wipe some grass on it." He got that from his old football coach. I guess everytime the players complained about their suicides or whatever drills he was torturing them with he would use that line. I have not started with the glutamine yet. Do you really think it is worth it for us? Maybe I'll add it in after I hit 6 months in a few weeks. I know for a fact the additional protein helps. My hair stopped falling out and I think it might have been due to the extra increase in protein. I also seem to recover faster now.

Marcus, I was a competitive powerlifter, and at 5'9", when I weighed 187, I was 21.5% body fat. The BMI says that at that weight I would be 27.6% body fat. Although I haven't reached this goal right now, you can see by my former weight/body fat percetage that the charts are not calculated for athletes (thus the study that says by the BMI over 90% of the NFL is obese or severely overweight). DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness). This happen to me if I really hit it hard. I had a killer leg work out on Saturday. Sunday I was pretty sore and Monday was even worse. Glutamine in supposes to help. And I do get lots of protein. I don't mind DOMS occasionally, but it should not happen all the time. I will just "adjust" the leg work out that caused it.
